Ive got the Leon FR with the bigger display for bluetooth, does the MFD show a warning for low washer fluid or anything else like a blown bulb for eg ???

warning lamp and message in mfd for both washer fluid and bulb out. either side of cruise control lamp (if youve got it).
Chris, on mine low washer fluid shows in the top line of my MFD... in yellow... low fuel shows here as well... but no warning light near the CC lamp...
I have a 07MY FR with bluetooth (hence large MFD) my washer fluid ran out two days ago, I got no ping, no warning light and nothing on the MFD.
I do not have the bi Xenon lights, dont know if that has any bearing on it
suggestions? (yes I have refilled it)

Ah-ha, I do have Xenons and get an orange warning in the Bluetooth MFD... Phil has a Cupra so that will also have Xenons, but he doesn't have BT hence he only gets a warning light on the dash... Looks like this function is only with Xenons... Which seems a bit crap that it isn't included in the Winter Pack.
maybe it has something to do with having xenons you need washers on the lights? So if you have xenons they warn you otherwise your breaking the law??

I have a one month old Leon 2.0 DSG Stylance with factory fitted satnav/bluetooth but no xenons. According to my manual page 64:
"Examples of priority 2 warning lights:
........
Windscreen washer fluid symbol (symbol shown) with the information text REFILL WINDSCREEN WASHER FLUID."
and states there will "one audible warning".

Somebody else told me this week, that if you have Xenons you need headlight washers, I'm 99% sure my Cupra doesn' have headlight washers though...
Yep, they are correct xenons must have washers if fitted. You will have washers for these lights

Just below the lights they are there, use your washers when you next start the car and see if the lights are wet.
I stand corrected, just been out and tried them and it does have them.
Didn't realise that they popped out from plastic ovals in the bumper.
I thought these were just plastic covers for the holes where they should go.
On the other cars I've seen with headlight washers it has been a fixed unit.

Its a common misconception that "by law" Xenon lights need headlight washers... They do and they don't...
They need headlight washers in order to get approval for use in the UK. My 350z had Xenons but no headlight washers as it was an import. The importers fitted a UK spec bumper and washers to get the Vehicle Approval and then removed the bumper once it passed the inspection. The car still passed its MoT.
Its done slightly differently with new cars bought in the UK as the cars aren't tested individually as the manufacturer must equip the vehicles to an agreed specification.
Therefore your car would not be illegal if you, for example, changed your bumper and removed the headlight washers and retained the Xenons, or retro-fitted Xenons to a car bought in the UK as the vehicle has already be certified for use on the road. AFAIK there is nothing illegal in this and checking that Xenon equipped cars is currently not part of the MoT - but thats not to say this might change in the future.
So they only have to have headlight washers at the point of sale in the UK or when they are inspected (if the car is an import).

i'm afraid you are wrong.
from the DoT website;
2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam.

my arms arent long and they definitely dont belong to the law, otherwise whats the point of having a car that can do any more than 70mph!!
fortunately/unfortunately i have a job that lets me sit in front of a pc for sometimes long periods of time, and i have been known to give google some welly. this was one of those things ive looked at in the past.
and i would be surprised if 50% of the stuff on the www is factual!

Please note that my following comments are based on what I have just read on this link and having not yet read whats on the DoT Website mentioned by Chris.
I think you may find that any vehicle with HiDs imported prior to the legal requirement for washers to be fitted will still be legal today, even if washers are still not fitted. However, if washers were fitted as a temporary measure to make it legal to import and then removed well.................
May be a bit of a sticky wicket (Keep the coat on Flakmonkey its cold out there)The law on new vehicles is clear but the words "Once fitted" seems to indicate a vehicle initially without HiDs having them fitted at a later date.

Yes, it does... I think it may be a grey area and, like fox hunting, a pretty much unenforced law... I did notice with my Z that they had set the dippped beam a little lower than my other car at the time and I wondered whether it was so it wouldn't 'attract attention' from the Police...
Anyway, I enjoyed my Z for the year I had it but I have learnt an important thing - don't buy a Japanese grey import!

Anyway as promised I have not filled up the washer bottle....started the car yesterday and a warning appeared in the large mfd telling me that the fluid is low.
