Looking for a bit of advise really

Fitted a Forge 007p to me cupra the other day, and im gettin loads of (what seems like) wastegate chatter.

Ive done a quick search on this and found that it could be the turbo stalling. However this happens at low revs when cruising around, but when you open up the throttle, for example when overtaking this turns into a load dump, as it should do normally.

The noise sounds kinda cool, but is it safe to do this? Ive heard a mixed bag of opinions on this and wondered if anyone has had similiar experiences?

Im currently got a cone filter/induction kit fitted too so i was wondering if this could be echo?

Cheers :)

I'm not a seat expert but on Fords it's not considered a problem running without a d/v (or with) and having chatter. Only on very high boost Cosworths is it considered more of an engine safety item - but even so the RS500 touring cars never ran with d/v's and they chatter like mad (appreciating the fact these engines used to be regularly stripped).

Here's a link with some text explaining your dump and chatter depending on boost / rpm level.

As I said at the start, I'm not a seat expert so not sure what the internals will safely take compared to Fords but gives you an idea of what is happening with your car.

*edit: Will pm you a link as I can't post links yet.
*edit: can't even pm you mate, sorry.

Sorted, copy the text below into the address bar. :)

My Ibiza FR is running stage 2 with a forge 007 and a yellow spring. Anything from 0.5bar and under it will have a chat with you, but anything over that you get the initial dump, then chatter to follow, depending on how far down your right foot is and how much boost you are creating. :)

If the DV is new, it comes with a green spring as standard so I don't really see a problem at all. If you were using a green spring on a stage 2 map then you could be loosing boost, which you would see on a boost gauge anyway.

I had the same issue and replaced my forge 007 with a forge split r and it sorted but as far as im aware with these engines its fine for it to chatter on moderate boost but not when its planted.

thanks for all the responses on this guys, some interesting details here.

Gonna try a different spring in there tomoz to see wot affect this has on the sound and driving experience if any.

ive always used a green spring on my stage two map with no problems that im aware of.
when you say loosing boost what do you mean?

check your vac hosing is not collapsing... redid a mk3 cupra which was doing the same thing.. direct pipe from manifold to Dv, it was cured

Well after taking off the old forge 007, you test it by pushing up the spring, putting your finger over the nipple and letting go of the spring.

Well the spring just dropped instantly and didn't hold any vacuum at all, meaning that the DV would need a service, meaning loosing boost. I just bought a new one.

Before fitted the new one, it would peak at 1.5 bar and dive down to 0.5 bar and held at that.

Fitted the new one and now it peaks at 1.6 bar and holds at 1 bar.

Hope that explains things a littler better. :)
