Water leaking into passenger footwell

The carpet between the door and floor were 'bone dry' like yours BUT water was coming in through the door seal and through the underside of the underlay so wasn't making the carpet wet. You need to take the door cards off ideally and check the seals

Ok, just took the cards off and put silicone sealant which I bought from Halfords across the door metal carrier. I hope this resolves the issue. I don't need to take the door carriers off do I?

I loosened the carrier to get the old sealant off and then replacement with new stuff. But by the sounds of it you've taken a short cut and used silicone which fingers crossed should work

Ok, So after doing this how can i take the carpet out to dry? Isn't that a massive job? Or can i just use a hair dryer?

Hi,

After this weekends weather my rear drivers side footwell is now almost 2 INCHES deep in rain water!

I don't think its the usual inner door seal problem, appears the water is actually coming in UNDER the black rubber door seal...

SOOOOO annoying, as I was actually pretty proud that I'd finally got the whole car interior bone dry, took all summer!

There'sa a bit involvedaalright but worth the pain... Front seats out... Plenty of trim along therunners and seat belts .. Console around the handbrake and gear stick. Etc etc.. It'sone piece of carpet ssoeeverything on top of it needsto come out ... If u can't find the leak you should focus ur efforts here.. It willbe aa loteasier to source the leak ... It will save u time in the long run...

So have you done the door seals already?

jus read all the comments as after the past couple of days of heavy rain I jus nipped out in mine and noticed its dripped a little water in my passenger side foot well about 2/3 inchs from the centre console it seems to be comin from the plastic above where the right foot would rest. am I right in thinking that the pollen filter is either damaged/leaking the water in??

Two things come to mind. 1st is i remember somebody had a leak that was running along the bonnet release cable and dripping off the handle into drivers footwell.

Second thing would be the pollen filter, if water gets in there it can run along the trim during cornering etc and drip into drivers footwell.

mine was leaking from the seal on the filter housing causing the passenger footwell to get soaked. took it off and resealed using butyl tape been fine since, i also resealed the cover on the driver side under the scuttle since it was off.
