I read with some slight concern that some members are running pumps with steel impellors-is this so?
My thinking is if a steel impellor did break or beak loose, would i really want it rattling round my alloy engine? no.
just a thought.

when your plastic one goes youll be crying.
it doesnt go anywhere it stays on the shaft but doesnt turn!
 
okay guys, calm. also, mine did go. so it gave me the opportunity to change my toothed belt.
are metal impellors 100% reliable, are you saying that one has never failed? i wouldn't like to be the 1% example of them failing it would be a small comfort knowing i was in the minority!:whistle:
 
we have a lot of problems here with waterpumps dying
some people got a new one fitted, couple of weeks later the waterpump dyed again
they got the metal one now and havent had any problems with it yet
 
is anything 100% reliable?

but what your saying 'might' happen and cause serious damage to the block...but its far more common for damage to occur from zero cooling because the plastic impellor fell to pieces.

to date, i cant recall hearing of a single case of a metal one failing

but its up to the individual at the end of the day
