Water pump

Hi people, been away for months, came back and the Ibiza is working exactly as it was before, so I've decided to give it a good bit of tlc before the summer months.

So, just a quick q, had a browse around but couldn't find what I was looking for...

Basically I'm having my cambelt done asap, and I've been told by a mate that changing the water pump while I'm at it is a good idea as it can be done at the same time.

No problem, but I've had a look at GSF and VWSpares and I'm a little confused on which water pump I need for my '99 GTi Cupra Sport 16v.

Am I right in thinking that on VWSpares it's #:01287 I need or if GSF, it's #:17062?

Also, while I'm at, how many belts are there on the 16v's? Might as well have them all done to treat the 16v.

EDIT: Just realised, one of my sideskirt jack point covers is missing. Argh!!! Any idea where I can get another?

sorry don't know about the waterpump/belts

but jacking point covers are dealer (like stupid £9-11 EACH i know shocking), fleabay or scrappies mate

I had my cam belt done and assumed the water pump was changed as well, the guy however tried to tell me that it was nt needed as it ran of a seperate belt . On my 16v there are TWO belts from the crank. i got the cam belt (obviously) then two auxillary/drive belts not a common single belt. I know one V belt goes round the Alternator and then there is a toothed belt for power steering pump. Not sure which belt (front/back) powers AC tand pumps tho.

stealers are ok mate (just depends on the idiots who work there, i hate the birmingham one, but the coventry ones are really nice)
you go in, and either pick up/order if it's not in what you want, then pick it up another day if not there!
but be weary, if you order in, you CANNOT get a refund (they're idiots like that) unless they supply the wrong part that is!

Was it you mate who recently got the jacking point covers and end caps for the side-skirts??

If it was do you have the part numbers as I have just aquired a set of side-skirts!

no it wasn't mate, i got 2 sideskirts off ebay (and the lovely chap gave me the JPC, clips and even the end caps which he couldn't get off, so just cut them and the metal off the car lmao)

but the codes are (from vagcat)
Left Front JPC: 6K5853455
Left Rear JPC: 6K5853455A

Right Front JPC: 6K5853456

(Left=passenger side
Right=drivers side
if you want satin black put a space and "B41" at the end of them)

the end caps are pop-rivotted to the side of the car

I lied! It's decided it wanted to remind me never to leave it again; little niggling things, like a newly cracked headlight and front foglight out amongst other things.

In addition to the service and cambelt it needs, something tells me it's going to be an expensive month.

Just got off the phone to my local dealer, and they wanted £550 for a full service, a new foglight and for my airbag light to disappear.

Sorry to dig this up but whats the difference between the normal end caps and the satin black ones.

As far as water pumps go, I can remember being told to look for one with a metal impella rather than a plastic - as they can break, jam and cause a nasty engine prob.
