weird bit of plastic

Today I was taking the spare wheel out and noticed a small black clip type thing at the bottom of the area where the spare is kept. I pulled it out and now i have a small whole in the bottom and you can see the ground through it. What is the small black bit for. It also had a metal nut with it and i cant work out where this bit goes

I got a bunch of free stuff left in the spare wheel well when I checked mine. Luck of the draw as to what you end up with, though - it depends on what bits fall in there when they assemble them, I think.

I never had anything to plug the hole in the bottom of the well but it didn't seem to pull up any significant muck from outside.

I was actually under the rear of the car when i pulled it off and i cud see into the boot!

I've known a few cars to have what seems to be a drain plug in the wheel well. Not entirly sure its supposed to be a drain plug but if your boot ever fills with water I guess it could come in handy
