well i had my m.o.t on saturday, and beleive it or not all my brake pads were ok, they were on the advisory list, but they passed!! he did say the rear brake discs are 'starting' to corrode. but i failed on my headlights dipping to low, and i need a new headlight on the near side, as it's broken basically. but then again my whole car could have been broken from the hill!

You thought you were lucky!!

Check this out, happened about 6 months ago...

CCTV footage of mine rolling away outside work.

The car slipped off down the hill, went dead straight, if it had gone 2 feet right it would have smashed into a building, if it had gone left it would have missed the kerb (which stopped it) and headed down an embankment onto a dual carriageway!!

AND 25 seconds after my car came to a stop 40 feet down the road the boss parked his M3 where my car would have hit it!!

Silly boy - i can only imagine that as i raced to work, the disc was hot, and as it cooled it slipped?

That is indeed more than lucky ! :D

My house is at the end of a cul-de-sac, one day I watched from my lounge a small van coming down the road (there is a small gradient on it) and it missed all the cars parked down the side of the road and hit the kerb at the end.

That stopped it luckily and good job too as there were some trees after the kerb.

The funniest moment was watching the guy who owned it, come out of his house and looking mystified to where his van had gone. he then realised it was sat at the bottom of the road and went down to unlock it and drove off ! :D

No way mate! Exact same thing happened to me, with my MK4 FR. Got out of my car outside my friends on a hill, put handbrake on (rear discs) I came out 20 mins later to find car gone!!!
(Blind panic/practical joke/suspician of theft)
I looked and the car had rolled off, missed the concrete bollard on the pavement, turned right -avoiding steeper bit of hill and parked cars!!! (steering lock still on) into a street going off to the right, mounted a low section of curb, and grazed a newly built brick wall!!! Not much damage, bit of scrapage to the bumper and wing a bit out of shape. Carbon copy of yours! mine happened Mid july

This did make me giggle - seems a bit common with these car's rolling off.. and I park on a hill outside my house, will defo start putting it in gear otherwise it'll end up on the main road. Although knowing my luck if that happened it would of rolled into everything it could find.

You were bloody lucky though :)
