What are our Cupras like in the ice

hi guys, i have a boc and from what i have heard it sounds like im pretty screwed when it comes to icy/snowy roads. Can anyone who has experienced it themselves shed any light on this?

You should be just fine mate. When pulling away let the auto box get you moving forward on its own torque then gently accelerate. No problem.

I entirely disagree, working for a company that produces rwd cars it can definitely be the car that is bad no matter what tyres you stick on it.

I would say the order of importance starts with the driver though, moment you start wheelspinnign you are melting and re freezing snow as ice and then you are propper screwed.

Mine done well in the snow last year! Just be careful and take it easy.

Pretty good to be honest. DSG does all the work so no wheelspinning as in Drive mode it changes up to highest gear as quick as possible. Also the EDL Traction control gets you on the move. Much better than my old Fiesta ST. That was like driving in a Snow board and was really crap in the snow and ice! One of the reasons i got rid of it!

All the above sounds promising for winter at least. Just hope the pirelli tyres will cope if we get snow again.

After living in germany for 9 years and having to drive in really bad snow in rwd cars i assure you winter tyres on a rwd car make huge huge differences. winter tyres are law over there, and the rwd bmw, mercedes etc all get around just fine. last year i was tne only guy who could get to the top of our street, that includes quite a few 4wd cars.

I was impressed with mine last Winter. As others have said take it easy and let the DSG and elecronics do their work. I don't think it makes a difference but it was on Pirelli P7's.

I went right up onto the South Downs & only stopped climbing up to the top because that'd have been a long walk had I got stuck.

As stated above, just leave it in D & leave the pedal alone.

The only bad point was in slowing down on solid ice you get no engine braking at all

Tyres make a huge difference i agree there but RWD is just not built for snow. We mandatory fit RWD tyres to all our cars, but ours are the worse combination. Supercharged and RWD and that just doesnt work, there is a special winter mode to help but end of the day there is just too much torque compared to other styles.

But then again we also make some of the best off road cars ever. so it evens out.

Mine was great once you were on the move, I just couldnt get it going once it was snowed in parked up!
