I have tried Phillips Blue Vision - these give off a blue tint but are rated at 50+ % so are good, my summer bulbs! Also got some 80 watt Ring Sportz Blue bulbs - these things are bad ass and light up miles of motorway stretch so be careful that they are set up right! Also tried Ring Xenon max bulbs which are more like OEM but have a bit more of a white/blue tint and are rated at 100 % extra light which is always good.

Whichever bulb you get make sure they are in the correct way round with the tab in the twelve oclock position and that they are perfectly straight in each plane of dimension.

Are there any issues with build up of heat from the bigger bulb affecting reflectors or plastic lenses?

Was going to put higher watt bulbs in mine but was concerned that the extra heat might damage the plastic lens (do a lot of long(ish) distance nightime driving during the winter so the headlights are on for a long time)

Not seen melted lenses on a MK5 yet but the plastic lense on the MK4 was not too happy about higher wattage bulbs unless you were moving to cool them down

I had both xenon max 100% and osram NB and both are good, white/yellowish tint...

TBH, u can't really just get white light. Its either white/yellowish tint or white/blueish tint.

If you looking for the white/blueish tint look for bulbs which have the whole bulb coloured in a blue coating or darker blue coating. The blue coating does affect performance of the bulb because it robbes lightout put, meaning you can't see far or signs.

So the Osram NB's are the best ones to go for, couldn't give too monkeys about what colour they are, I want light, lots of it, and at a good distance.
Improved visability improves safety and speed, matching lights don't.

Philips extreme 80% or 100% is your choice.

When i got the car, i changed dipped and main beam with Philips Extreme Vision +100%. They gave much improved light on the road, but they were a little bit yellow for my taste.

So now i changed again with Philips Crystal Vision (rated 4300 K) dipped, main beams and fog lights, and i'm very happy.
