Better brakes cost big bucks and there isn't really a cheap alternative

Id say best buy for a budget would be Badger5 Elliptically grooved discs with Ferodo DS2500 pads and decent fluid

From what ive seen they work pretty damn good on standard calipers

Thanks berg, ill keep my eye out for second hand ones for a while I think, thing is if I had the money i would spend it coz there's no point being able to do 0-60 in 5 seconds or what ever if u carnt stop lol haha

312mm brakes of leon cupra/s3/tt etc etc are a good budget upgrade if your willing to do the work to make them fit, i love mine!

Other than the machining of the carrier/redrilling discs, they are relatively easy to fit from what I've read....

Callipers carriers and discs are then a straight swap with minor filing on the brake hose knuckles....

If you have standard wheels you might need a small spacer

I made a quick to do in the FAQ section. But heres what to do!

Get a complete kit including
Brake callipers
Pads
Discs
Hoses
Carriers
Anything else ive not listed lol

Re-drill discs to 4x100
Mill 5mm off of the carriers ( pics in the mentioned thread )
File locating lugs off of the brake hoses
File or mill some material off of the inner face of the carrier ( not really necessary but i done this as a precaution incase there was any contact under high temps )
And 5mm spacers if using standard wheels l!!

Think thats all but the thread has pics etc to help you along, i should probably re-do it as it was done in a rush but i think its pretty self explanitory once the carriers and discs are milled and drilled!!

no point upgrading back brakes, they do little breaking, the weight shift forward under breaking will take most the load (mainly up front anyway) off the back wheels, making any extra braking power virtually redundant. spend it else where IMO ;)

Your a fairly new member her so can i ask a few things please.

1) PLEASE DONT use text speak. it is in the forum rules and it devalues the forum.

You say you have only been driving for a short time yet your wanting to do 0-60 in the shortest possible time whilst having decent brakes to stop you ? Surely in normal driving conditions you wont need to stop like that ? In my 8 years of driving I have had to do an emergency stop once.

Well anyway... car manufacturers would not underspec the cars brakes for normal road use. If you find your needing the need of a BBK when driving on the road.. well your obviously driving way too fast for the conditions.
I would say the best way to invest your money right now would be to book a track / airfield day and learn how the car handles in a safe environment.

Unless you plan on running big BHP like a few guys on here BBK's are pointless and really not worth the money. as chris has said, an uprated pad and disc will help slow you down faster and generally be enough for a track day or two.

Sorry about text talk its a habbit, as for me wanting to do 0-60 as fast as possible u took what I said completely the wrong way I was just saying there's no need point in having a high performance car if if the breaks arnt up to scratch, I was just wondering what people go for when choosing to upgrade, as for my driving I Dnt think its correct to assume anything about my ability or the way I drive if you haven't seen me drive,

Anyway thanks for the advise

Adam R was not judging your driving ability, but that of understanding how this particular car will handle/react under certain conditions. And a track/air field day will show you that you wont need better back brakes...not yet anyway. Uprated front brakes are deffinately a nice to have mod, but better disk and pads alone will do just as good for road use.
