Errr. No.

Coolant has the lowest freezing point when it's 50:50 or thereabouts. It's the mixture of the two that stops them freezing, too much of either coolant or water will raise the freezing point.

Pre-mix it and you won't go wrong.

For future reference you can get G12+ from GSF as well as VW. £4.50+VAT for 1.5 litres.

I bought 3 Litres of the purple stuff, so will I have to mix it 50:50 or is it pre mixed? also, is the best wat to flush the coolant just to run a hose mipe through the radiator and make it do a full lap and come back out again, and would removing the thermostat housing be the best bet to get the water right through the whole engine aswell?

Thanks

It is not pre-mixed. You need to mix it 50:50 with water. If you are obsessive about your car, use distilled water, otherwise just use tap water.

The purple stuff (G12+) with intermix with either of the old types, so you don't need to be obsessive about flushing it. Just a quick swizz through the radiator to flush out any nasties will do.

Is there a technique to refilling the coolant system to avoid getting airlocks?

not really.

fill up via the expansion tank, let it settle, if it needs topping do so.

start car, keep eye on the level and top up as required.

leave car running till it gets to normal temperature.
put heating on hot so that the whole system gets run through. you may find the level drops at this point depending how good a drain was done.

then it should all be ok.
but take some spare with you as there may be some settling.

levels should be correct when the coolant is cold. it will expand slightly when hot so will be slightly high. dont worry.

some on here moan about removing the jubilee clip to drain the system. note: (on the leon) there is a drainage pipe at the bottom of the radiator on the near side. this has a knob that you just turn to drain and turn back to stop. easy.

also read the coolant container as you can get pre mixed coolant or coolant that required diluting.

Im picking my LCR up on sat. I was thinking about changeing a few things like the coolant, is it worth doing as its only 18months old? Do seat use G12 from new? Also are the plug on the lcr tripple electrode? Worth changing?

It will be needing its 20k service soon. What do they do on this service? just oil?
