what could be causing slight jerk in new engine?

when car maintaining speed (ie foot just on accelerator enough to stay at same speed) getting occasional jerk from the engine, a sudden hesitation. DOing it in all gears (well don't know about first because never just maintaining speed in first, always accelerating to some degree!), from 2nd gear in bad traffic, to 6th gear at 80mph on the mways. Should add car is only 3 weeks old and has done it from day one but I think is getting more often (Wasn't sure if it was me or the car at first - first car I've had with 6 gears, ratios all different to my 5 speed).

Car is going back to the dealership to be looked at tomorrow but I'm worried I won't be able to demostrate the problem easily as it isn't all the time and can be quite subtle (but when you're looking out for it as the driver you can feel it).

Any suggestions?

Bang In The Middle.
It could well be the Dog Bone Mount??
I had & still get the 'jerkiness' esp in 4th gear @ about 25-30mph.

2nd,3rd too. Been told by specialist that my engine is 'rocking' & DBM should sort this out.

probably different, ive found that since my lambda issue started months and months ago, my intermittant circuit problem causes the car to do exactly what you mention. ive tried replacing the sensors and the problem and issue is still listed in vagcom.

Nowhere Important
Dont worry too much about it, im sure the garage will get it sorted.

On my 1st full day with the car I had the AA out to replace my ignition coil on my brand new Ibiza! I was worried at first but once it got fixed my car has been great, hopefully yours will be to!

Have a look on briskoda this is a known problem with the 130 PD TDI engine. My girlfriend drives a fabia vrs 06 plate and hers does the exact same thing.
Skoda claim to be coming up with a fix but its not happened just yet!

Please post the numbers from your ECU so i can explain if yours is effected.

well typically when we test drove the car at the dealership it didn't do the hesitation, the they took it down to the workshop and hooked it up to the computer - no fault codes. Checked suspension etc, no problems found. So I'm no better off. Car hesitated 3 times in about 4 minutes this evening, first time around 1500rpm, second time about 1800rpm, didn't catch third time. So I don't believe its connected to the turbo. Frustrated!
Yellowperil - I'd be very interested to hear what happens with your girlfriends Fabia, excuse my obvious stupidity but what are the numbers from the ECU?

The ECU is the silver box in the top right hand corner of your engine bay. The numbers on this show the hardware and software version it uses. In many cases the Seat and Skoda 130PD engines in the Ibiza and Fabia use the same ECU.

If you list the details on here i will tell you if they are the same ones causing problems in the vRS. Also its seems like the Euro 4 engines and being the trouble

ah ok, will look later and put them up. Thanks. I'm going to take mine into a more local dealer and leave it with them for a day so they can test drive it themselves, and hopefully witness the problem. I'm really worrying about it now having read the bits on briskoda!

Right, not sure which numbers you need so have written them all down.
Main one is: 838 906 019 NJ
then there is Bosch 7331 under that,
then in smaller numbers 1039510368 1154 0104
05-10-31
281 011 823 BPG

Hope you can tell what you need from all those!

I have noticed that on my 06 Ibiza FR, I occassionally get a slight judder too. It only appears to happen in 3rd, but I will look out for it in other gears too after reading this.
It happens when I am not accelerating, but maintaining speed i.e. when my foot is very lightly on the pedal. I would describe it as chugging ever so slightly. There does not actually seem to be any loss of power, and if I put my foot down, there's no lag or loss of power, but is a definate jerkiness.

Is this the same as other people are experiencing?

yes The Boon, thats exactly the thing, when maintaining speed not accelerating, and no apparent loss of power when you put your foot down. Does it definately in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th gears on mine, I would think probably in 5th too just haven't noticed it yet. Sometimes when changing from 2nd to 3rd I get a bit of a jerk too.

I get this a lot, more since remapping - Have a look behind you when it does it - do you get a puff of soot when it hesitates ? (I do)

Yes thats the same software as the Skoda Fabia vRS is having problems with. I believe its since the euro 4 compliant engines. Probably trying to run to lean.

By the way your numbers are really 038 906 019 NJ and 0281011823

do you have any advice as to what I should go back to the dealership with then? Have Seat acknowledged there is a problem with this engine as Skoda appeared to have done?

I contacted SEAT through their website last night about this problem, and they apparently have no knowledge of a problem with the TDI FR engines. I have been advised to take the car into my local dealership to be looked at again and SEAT will follow the process if I wish them too. They are 'obviously concerned' about the problem. So booking it into local dealership (David Cooks in Chadderton, Oldham) and lets hope it hesitates on the test drive this time! Does it every other flippin time!

the yanks call it 'bucking' on their TDis - my FVRS does it, but improved after a remap. Annoying but harmless from what i've read.

I get the same thing with my 06 Leon TDI (105). It happens when the pedal is only just being touched, and put it down to the throttle being closed and then opened again very quickly with slight movements of the foot, going over a bump etc.

No mater how hard I try I can't make the car do it.
