Went to get my front lip wrapped in gloss black but then 2 heat guns broke so they said sorry we can't do it and sent me on my way with a roll of vinyl and told me to try it myself! After won't 2 hours of my time and 50 miles worth of fuel I was not amused [:@]

50 miles?! Don't you have someone more local?

Not really I live in a village and this seemed like a decent price. I guess you get what you pay for, anyone got any tips for wrapping lol

It just so happens I do! You obviously won't be using a heat gun so I would apply with a small amount of water. Fill a bottle with water and one drop of washing up liquid . The bottle needs to have one of those nozzles at the top so that you can adjust to apply a light mist. You don't have the required tool for application but I would use a small squeegee (rubber or plastic) to apply the vinyl. Gently work the vinyl onto the panel using the squeedgy pushing the water out as you go . A blade is handy too for cutting off excess vinyl. If you have a garage I would recommend doing it indoors , it's too cold to apply outdoors , the vinyl won't take, but still can be done if the sun comes out! What are you wrapping?

Thanks for the tips pal, gonna have a look on YouTube at a few videos and will use the Mrs hairdryer. Might as well give it a go with the bits they gave me and if I fcuk it up I'll just take it off and get it done properly. Just the centre bit of the front lip.

So,

Thinking of changing my car this year & the 1st thought was why not upgrade the mk2 to a mk3.

Current 1.4TSi (125bhp) Sport is insurance group 15, so I thought the mk3 1.4TSi would be in a broadly similar insurance group......nope!!

1.4TSi (138bhp) FR......insurance group 20

1.4 EcoTSi (150bhp) FR.....insurance group 21.

How can it be that a newer car with supposedly better build/safety equipment with broadly similar specification be a minimum of 5 insurance groups higher.....For the sake of 13bhp (ordinary tsi)

It appears bonkers compared to another car i looked at a 2013 Volvo C30 2.0L (145bhp) in R-Design Lux trim......insurance group 22. I can understand that with it being a 2.0L.

Did you get an actual quote, as when I changed from my Biza Cupra to the Leon Cupra 280 my group went up a lot but the quote was not much more. I even changed Biza Cupra once for a newer higher group and the cost went down, all to do with age, car repair cost and diff ins companies.

As Seastormer says, do a quote first you may be surprised. My old Ibiza 1.2tsi FR cost £230 a year, the Cupra 280 was £190!

I was looking at getting an fr key cover, but the cupra one looks much better! :(. Will it be blasphemous if i get one for my fr?

I've just ordered this one for now. Not sure if the original FR key for £25 looks a bit tacky. Each to their own of course!!

you may well find eagles come round and peck out your liver.
why not put the key on a Porsche keyring while you're at it?

be PROUD of your FR. (not an oiler, is it?)

Had to scrape the windscreen for the first time, it takes a while, coming from a ford Fiesta with quickclear which i didnt really think was that great, but it was actually blooming marvelous, i wonder what the VW version is like on the Golf! Also they should fit it to all cars, facelift cough cough
