Oil replaced and oil filter replaced, wheels need kicking, they should check for any outstanding S/W updates and apply them, though possibly not unless you have reported any issues that got sorted by a S/W update.

A range of safety checks will get carried out possibly as a free extra.

Sorry if it’s a stupid question but what does “wheels need kicking mean”?

Each dealer may user differnet oil. Had a Seat Ibiza on long life oil, and it was Castrol, did the 1st service for 'regular' just before giving back the car, they put Texaco oil and it ran worse (mpg was down consistently). Meanwhile even now, recently sent for service for a non-Seat car, one dealer was using Shell, the other was Castrol.

Would Seat ever put in decent oil if you asked them, and paid for it obviously??

I’ve got my first year service coming up soon end of June.
6 months ago I put Millers 5w40 NT+, ideally I’d like the same oil again.

Would any independents do this maybe ?

You know, most if not all main dealership chains will have a oils supply contract set up that best suits their overall operation, so typically they will stock in bulk a big enough selection to suit their expected workshop throughput of models - from a single oil brand or group.

I'd expect that everyone of their stocked oils will adhere with each of SEAT's engine requirements, so there should be no problems there wear wise, but maybe slight differences MPG wise or at least as perceived by the owner of certain cars.

For servicing within the new car warranty period I have allows and would continue to always use the correct dealership - you can avoid doing that and stay within SEAT's Ts and Cs wrt to new car warranty, but you might have to work hard to get them to resolve some issues quickly and FOC.

I do admit to once or twice replacing engine oils at 6 months on 2 new cars though, on the first one I stupidly mentioned this to the dealership when handing the car in - very sharp intake of breath was caused by doing that followed by much discussion with workshop techs and service manager, I did not mention it the second time.

For your information car companies like VW Group do add tracer dyes to the factory "fitted" oils, that is the difference say between Castrol Edge Professional and Castrol Edge as bought elsewhere without the Professional included on the container.

If you really wanted, you could supply your own oil and they will " likely " use that and not charge you for oil, but still the Labour...

The oil they will supply from a main dealer will ( should ) be the same as it was designed, built and supplied with so will be fine. Modern oil is expensive and is expensive for a reason, also nearly every cupra I've seen has been on a 10,000 mile interval, which is pretty short for modern cars.

I may enquire about that, if I supply it.
Just unsure as the Spec of the Millers NT+ is 5w40 and they will probably say it’s not correct spec which should be 5w30 iirc.

Reason I’m using that is the car is the ABT version so it’s got a ‘tune’ (albeit mild one) and the consensus is that oil is better then the Castrol stuff Seat use.

Nothing wrong to me about using a different oil or supplying your own oil.

But 100% always use the correct grade of oil, there will be a reason they specify a grade, and it will have been developed and designed to use that grade. If your gonna use your own oil, use the correct grade mate ! Get 5W30 if that's what your car is supposed to use
