What is the process for draining the coolant?

Hello,

I did a search and found the below link, but it was in reference to a Leon and not an Ibiza. Further digging around led me to believe the Ibiza doesn't have a tap to open to drain coolant like the Leon does. So I would like to check what the process should be please?

Here is the link, for reference:

Also, just to double check... is it preferable to flush the system too, or can I get away with just draining and replacing? The current coolant in the car is only water and antifreeze, but I wanted to replace it with the G13 I bought. If I do have to flush, what is the process because I don't have specific coolant flush but I'm led to believe you can just use water?

Many thanks for your time,
Ben.

What engine is in your Ibiza? My 1.9 TDI has a small plastic nipple to unscrew in order to let the coolant drain out. It is at the joint between the lower coolant hose and the radiator. If you remove the under tray you can see it at the front of the engine bay (from underneath), on the passenger side. I didn't use official VW coolant, but it is supposed to be made to the same spec (supposedly), and I have had no problems after simply pouring water through the system until it ran clear, then refilling.

Also worth mentioning, when you fill with new coolant go for a drive and check the level, it may decrease by a good bit. Top it up and go for a drive again. Do this until it remains at the 'max' marker. I believe there is a quicker way of doing this however I'm not sure what it is so I wouldn't like to mis-inform you.
