I noticed something hanging from underneath my car, it was below the drivers seat looked like a small rad or cooler, felt a bit of heat from it when I put it back in its proper position in the floor pan. Any ideas? as I don't have a clue.

Small rad or cooler underneath the drivers side sounds like the fuel cooler for the PD fuel system. Looking at your profile you have a TDI engine, so you would expect to find one there.

Here's a photo from the TDI Club forum showing one fitted to a Mk.4 Golf

It shouldn't be loose and if it gets damaged it will leak fuel.

Is your car a Mk.2 (the one that looks like a Mk.1 Leon with a boot) or Mk.3 (the one that looks like an Altea)? The Mk.3 should have a floor cover that needs removing first to get to the cooler.

Thanks Muttley, thats what it is, diesel cooler ,no floor cover on the pan, from reading some posts it seems to be a broken spot weld on a lug that attaches it to the floor. Ramps out tomorrow for permanent fix.
