In a far away Land
Just a simples question, I'm used to cars ticking over at 3-500rpm but the my pd130 ticks over at 900rpm.

Is this normal? Seems to be 1 fith of the rev range almost, is it because its a high pressure engine?

Cheers peeps

Mine ticks a bit lower than that. But I know you can raise the tick over to stop the car juddering at idle.

I have to ask what you've seen idle at 3-500?! Any modern car I've been in, petrol or diesel, idles around 700-900, including my pd130. That's normal.

All of my Celicas have sat around the 500 rpm mark after a good service, maf clean and injector clean (bg44, seafoam), my scoobies used to idle really low and took a while to learn how to not stall when pulling away.

Saying that driving the boss's 535d last week toseemed to idle pretty low as well?

Must be my choice of cars or what I do to them? As long as 900 is ok then I'm happy with that
