I keep reading threads in here and on the net and I am still struggling on what model leon to buy.

Options are below:

Sport - 140bhp + remap + FR front bumper (not so many electrics but drivers better with sports suspension)

Stylance - 140bhp + remap + FR Front bumper (lots of electrics but would need suspension and alloys)

Stylance with sports pack - 140BHP + remap + FR front bumper (best of both worlds?)

FR - 170bhp - no need to do much or anything to it immediately but have massive worries over DPF as the car needs to be very reliable, days ofr the road would cost me money.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i got a petrol stylance (no sports pack) and love it!

couldnt go to a model like sport would lose to many luxuries.

Has to be FR or Stylance - based on your DPF worries, its gotta be the Stylance with Sports Pack

Thanks for the quick reply!

what does the sports pack consist off?

Seats,
Alloys,
Suspension?

If so the only real thing I would want out of that lot would be the seats. Suspension and alloys I would go aftermarket on any how. Are the leather seats in the stylance range the sport seats covered or the the normal stylance seats covered?

FR diesel, job done. You worry about the DPF but are willing to remap a 140 bhp? Seat will laugh at you if anything goes wrong with that

DPF has a problem, Seat will sort it. Out of all the people who own the FR diesel only a few have DPF issues so i wouldn't be even slightly concerned.

As for the ride, the FR is stiff but corners so so well and thats with the 18's too. I do 35,000 miles a year and love every yard of it!!

judging by the number of FR's for sale at dealers and auto trader plus the ones you see on the road, it would be fair to conclude there are not 1000's on the road. Then taking into consideration the amount that are having problems within this forum alone and the VW and Audi cars all experiancing major problems (it in some cases costs) its something I do have to take seriously.

As for the remap I have no issues whats so ever with taking a remapped car to a dealer. I can always take it off and put it back on again at my lesuire ;)

I also dont really want to spend 15k on a car and live in permant fear that the DPF filter is going to die on me, so untill a decent mod is around to get rid of the problem - eibach? Then I wouldnt have any confidence in the car.

I read somewhere going back a couple of years now that manfacturers (in particually Subaru) were getting fed up of people remapping cars and causing damage that they then had to fix. They were supposed to be implementing a mechanism as part of the ECU that could detect a remap even if the mod itself had been removed.

Did anything like this ever happen?

Stylance 140 dsg all the way mate. Thats what im planning anyway. with fr/cupra front and rear bumpers and skirts. All the luxuries and toys, total reliability and great looks to match. If you want more power, remap it to 170 ish? bhp without the worries of the dpf going capoot..

go for a 140 with remap then and keep your fingers crossed nothing goes wrong.

If it was going to get you far more power i.e. 200 bhp then it would be worth looking at. But to keep having to have the map put on and taken off every service would do my head in especially when you are only getting roughly the same output. Most FR models that have been on a RR are knocking out close to 180 bhp as standard too. The seats and styling would be worth having too

I think your confusing Sport with Reference Sport. Sport is a model which was dropped when the FR came out and is the same spec as Stylance with sport pack.

on autotrader they are listed as both some are new and old.....so yes there is some confusion.

On Autotrader there are the models listed:

referance
referance sport
Stylance
Stylance (with sport pack as an optional extra)
Sport
FR

So a Sport model is the stylance with sport pack?

Depends if you get your car serviced at the stealers or independent.

yep, but bare in mind as sport was only made upto model year 2006, it wont have AUX input or ipod input. (neither will any models made in Model year 2006)

The whole DPF thing is just plain wierd. As Jace said, only a handful of people have had problems. I don't get much motorway runs in at all as I live in the centre of Manchester but it hasn't come on in 11,000 miles.

Get the real deal, get the FR :)

New Leon

I have a 2006 2.0 140 Sport DSG it is a good car for the price,But suspension is rock hard ,Sports seats and 17" wheels are very nice and this is the first auto car I have ever had and I will be getting another for the driving I do DSG is the best.

Get about 45mpg out of it average so happy with that.

If I were to buy another Leon it would be a Stylance 140 with sports pack but have the springs changed for something less harsh.
