i currently own an 03reg tdi spoer, had it re-mapped its pushing 185nhp now. want more power so what next? so many decisions.... fmic, exhausts, filters inlets allsorts anyone got any ideas or know from previous knowledge cheers man.:D

185 bhp  what map do you have? you had it RR yet ? FMIC and exhaust would have to be next on the list

But for big power, your'll be wanting new injectors, manifold, turbo...

And before you do any of that, your'll need a FMIC, Exhaust, Green Cotton and mostly likely a new upragted clutch.

Nevermind that fact, running so much power will need atleast 312mm brake upgrade, tbh i'd do that now, and if you get more power, get brembo's.

The suspension, its alright going fast on a straight, but been out braked, and out cornered by the same came with "just" a remap and your'll get a little annoyed. Good tyres, strut braces, spacers. Again id do this now whilst its only running what I assume is a guess figure of 185bhp. If you then go for more power again, i'd look a diff's, and anything else that cane help hold the car onto the road!

But hey, power is nothing without control.

The amount of times this question gets asked is unreal....!

But T.SPark has summed it up nicely...

Sort out:

Brakes - 312mm
Suspension - Your choice
Intercooler
Exhaust - mufflerectomy
green filter
Cupra air intake
extras - Wheel spacers, Strut braces etc. bigger wheels?

Or go all out and get a hybrid turbo and uprated clutch to go with the above!

This is the email reply i got back from torquetronix when i asked could i get 200bhp out of a remap.

200 BHP would not be out of the question but would in my opinion be

pushing the standard turbo a little bit too hard at almost 1.7 Bar boost to make

sure that there was no smoke.

185 to 190 BHP with 300lb/ft torque would be a better choice to suit standard

components.

With Hybrid Turbo uprated clutch and Race Injectors you could acheive a reliable

235 BHP plus

Something for you to think about. Feel free to contact with any further questions.

Regards

Dave.

These boys have a Golf tdi tuned well over 240

Sounds about right for standard bits and bobs, The KKK turbo wont take 1.7bar+ for long I dont think.

Put with all mods, plus injectors + turbo id be hoping for 250bhp tbh.

Woz thinkin about it, but racing injectors will take a good bit of saving. Unless sumwheres doin them cheaper than Allards.

im thinking of the fmic at the mo but not realy up for the uprated turbo dunt want to go to silly just yet but cheers for the help guys! my remap was done from a firm in carlisle took some getting hold of but once i got hold of the guy his work was a dream!

I know, the injectors for the PD130/PD150 arent cheap as they are, think your'll looking around £1,000 of your hard earned just to purchase them, nevermind fitting & mapping, and Turbo/Manifold.

Wont be a cheap 250bhp, but would be ace in a DERV the size of our cars :p

One day mine will be running that power + (I can dream)

The FMIC wont give you any power gain's unless you get your map changed and up the boost a little, even tho it will be minimal tbh.

You wont get a power increase worth talking about unless you look at Turbo's, Injectors, Manifolds etc.

Besides id get brakes, suspension and other bits done first before getting any more power.

I wouldnt like 250bhp going through the front wheels.... serious traction issues!

I felt i big diff when i put the FMIC, did you notice it T.spark.

But i agree with you about sorting everything out first before upping the power more.

IMHO, sort the rest of the car out first mate, the amount of people who buy them and just up the power, and then think oh **** i cant stop, steer, go round that corner too fast as my suspension wont let me.

Get a FMIC, full exhaust, you can go with a decat aswell, but choice is yours, tt 312mm brakes, and maybe some 17's with decent tryes on them. Suspension is also a must, along with front and rear Strut braces. Rear spacers is also an option, and then you could look at a PD160 intake and green panel filter.

Then once all thats done, you will need a new clutch aswell ;) then you can up the power to as much as your pockets allow. I have got a hybrid turbo etc etc and got the car sorted first befor i upped the power, so went from 130 bhp to 200. Car handles great, goes ok but am looking for a different map now though as the current one seems a bit flat and is pushing too much boost for my likeing.

Now for me to go to the next stage would cost far too much than i want to spend, so am selling up in September to buy a mk4 20vt Cupra and will spend the money on that then and get better gains out of it for my money. AM hoping to get that up to 350 bhp then will be happy for a while.

Didnt notice much difference, but have to admit top end (in the rev band) seems to keep power longer, imo it just shows how much power you have :p

And keeps it longer!

so next mod fmic from forge> u guys agree? then the pd160 intake, is this just the air box and piping?

the pd160 is just the intake and the little attachment that clips on the front near the bumper thingy
Need a green panel filter aswell matey will make it breath better. Yes IMHO the forge fmic is good, some people choose the seat sport one which is a tad bigger, but you will also have to modify your bumper even more than with the forge one.

so even with the forge intercooler modifications to the bumper are needed? will keep eyes open think this is my next mod! where can you het hold of the pd160 intake and attatchments from? also are the green cotton filters easy to get hold of?

The bumper on your car wasn`t designed to have a FMIC behind it so to get any make of intercooler fitted Forge,Allard's,Seat PD160 will take abit of cutting to the back of your bumper but it is only very minor and you cannot see it. PD 160 intake can be bought at any dealers and green cotton panel filter can be bought from Badger 5 on site or any other company selling Green branded filters.
