would't do the deal for anything more than £9500, but if it looks clean enough and definately has the recaros, it seems a good deal, but push him to £9500.

I've spoke to the owner, the car is totally standard.

All its had done on warranty was rear bushes, is this common on the Cupra R?

Other than that he said its fine. Warranty ran out Feb 2006

He has had the roof resprayed because it was scratched from the Mrs putting her handbag on it!! haha

He also had a new rear bumper fitted because someone reversed into back of it getting into a parking space but all it did was crack the bumper.......

Just checked the paint match then I suppose.

You shouldn't see any real major problems, rear bushes/shock have been known on a few.

Check the discs/pads - they are expensive to replace. Had my discs swapped @40k.

NVS is a good place to start with disc & pd changes. See my other posts on the search facility for thier contact details - I paid about £140 for front pads fitted at the place I work.

Im also due in for rear shocks at 41000 miles, its gonna cost me £225. But this is only to validate an after market warranty Im about to take up. And there is no noticable issues that I am aware of at the moment. (Yes Im suspicios and will be cagey about this work being done).

Ive had mine since 32,900 miles and its a 2002, 210 bhp black like yours. I paid 10k in Sept last year. Ive got recaros too.

Everyone is right about the paint work - mines chipped on the front, and It would need a bonnet respray and then the amour coating to maintain it in good condition.

But for me - its all well worth it. Ive been a very happy person, and prefer this to every car ive had. Sod the boxsters, XKs, TTs, TVRs and all the others Ive looked at - ....Ill keep the LCR for now thanks.

BTW - someone once said LCR expense pattern = brakes, tyres, brakes, tyres, brakes, tyres, brakes, tyres.

They werent wrong :) but its shed loads cheaper than the alfa :)

I've seen a lot of 210's roaded at close to 225bhp so that wouldn't bother me and it would be getting a remap after i had it.

So i'd rather pay less for a 210 then pay more for a 225 if you get me?

As has been said, check its history and the quality of the paintjob
I would expect prices on LCR's to hold for a while now, considering all the new ones have gone.
So if it's a genuine car then go for it!!

Absolutely, theres nothing in it performance wise and as you say they remap to the same. I think you could get a 225 for a £100-200 more though and come resale it may be worth it.

Check what your buying, has it really just been reversed into or has it had a rear shunt. If its had a resprayed roof, you want to be checking the whole car in the dry.
I'd feel a bit nervous with any history of a knock or scrape in an lcr.:(

Well, I bought my LC 03 reg Black Magic for 9300 with 21k about 5 weeks ago.
Yes, it was a little more than I hoped to pay (expected to pay even, given Parkers etc etc), but car was in mint condition barring a couple of wee chips (actually one annoyingly largest stone chip) on the front of the bonnet.
I know it's not great to try and compare a LC with a LCR, but the price doesn't seem too bad to me from when I was looking around a few months ago.

Go and have a look and test drive it.

My next tuppence worth is. Stick with the idea of buying an LCR - dont deviate from the path, the rewards are well worth it. Definately my favourite car so far.

Also - in terms of RAC inspections (Im not sure RAC do it anymore) some chap came out from one of those companies listed on AutoTrader to look at the Alfa I sold. Man he missed so many things wrong with it that I determined I would never pay for an inspection.

The paint on front left wing was bubbling - he missed that.
The roof had been repainted (v badly) - he missed that.
The exhasut manifold bracket was loose - he missed that.
Rear suspension bushes worn - missed that.
Holes in door cards - missed.
And more and more.

Yeah its more like £1000 - £2000

I'd prefer a 210 anyway given that the 225 supposedly has weaker conrods/links
