i would get petrol but then i would only get the 2.0 tfsi but then other half wont get insured on it and my insurance will be stupid high so the diesel will be loads lower on the tdi just got a quote and its only 200 more a year for the 2.0tdi than my little ibiza the petrol engine will be over double i reckon

Scrap the above message got quote on a 2.0tfsi fr and it was 100 less on insurance with my partner on it lol insurance is crazy lol now in massive dilemma

Lol don't start with that I already been looking at maps and exhausts but promised other half if I get it won't touch it till next year lol said I could have remap for Xmas and bday in July I can ask for exhaust lol

Mate as much as I love my diesel, ifihas the chance I would get the tfsi. Guess that doesn't help at all.

Nope not at all lol just need to compare the running costs of the 2 to see what would suit me better, tfsi my right foot would like my head would like tdi misses would like tdi as slower but will put petrol in it for sure so I won't like that lol and the dilemma goes on

Get the TDI...you know it makes sense

The TDI is £155 cheaper per year in tax and 20mpg better on fuel economy with bags more torque than the TFSI. The TDI is obviously slower but it depends what's more important to you.

Have driven a fr 200bhp. Doesn't feel as fast as my 140tdi. I no it's faster but didn't get the same kick as my diesel. If you can afford the petrol then get the fr but if not then the 140 plus remap is no slouch. Got for what you want at the end of the day

When your so used to Diesel Torque delivery you miss it

Even on Stage2+ 2.0TFSI, its punchy but not punchy like my old PD170 Stage2+ (But then the extra power etc kicks in and you go WOW)

i would only stage 1 on both but i like the torque factor on the tdi tbh as that really kicks you back but the extra power on the tfsi would be nice but the tax on diesel would be much better but not sure my usage of the car would justfy having the diesel i feel i would get around the same mpg as during will going to and from work which is about 10 miles a day max

Dont be fooled by people who say short journeys kill diesel mpg

i do 12 miles a day round journey to work, All the roads are the dual lane roads in MK with roundabouts, so very fast roads, lots of braking for roundabouts then speeding up again

FR TDI Stage2+ used to get about 27mpg-32mpg on these (PD170 which is known for rubbish MPG), LCR Stage2+ gets 18-20mpg


bearing in mine 99Ron fuel is toughly same cost as Diesel

The running costs and torque of the derv will win him over.

20+ MPG better, lower tax and the insurance should be lower too.
