Wheel help please - Could be stupid!

I'll have to agree with Lee here:

The bolts are only there to hold the wheel onto the Hub face, the only strain they should see is lateral. The Hub should take the strain of the Wheel on the suspension. The spigot ring down sizes the centre-bore of the alloy so there is no play on the hub, that's it's job.

To the OP. I don't know why the spigot rings you have are 45mm though? but surely all you'll have to do is just 65mm > 57.1mm spigot rings. They shouldn't be all that expensive. (These look about the closest, but measuring again might give you a better idea)

Small thought,

Is it possible that the powder coat is too thick on the section of wheel that slots over the hub causing it not to fit?

Likely or a load of crap!! ??

Just had another pop - no dice :(

2 wheels have spigot rings 2 dont. Not sure why they are needed anyway as the wheels simply wont fit flush to the hub for some reason. I have tried now on both the rear and front hubs.

Pics below show how the wheel goes flush on one side of the hub but wont on the opposite side.

The vid shows how the wheel simply wont go on.

I dont want to try and force them on by doing bolts up and run the risk of ruining the threads/hub.

Only thing i can think of now is to get mechanical on the powder coat in case its just that thats a little too thick for its own good! Thoughts?

Ok, i won! :funk:

Mass hardcore sanding of wheel and one wheel went on straight away, no messing, flush to hub so confidence back! Had to be the one corner i hadnt tried before!!

3 other wheels needed winding on with the nuts so was quite nervous, but tightening in small hits sequentially around the 5 bolts and they pulled into the hub nice and tight.

Strangely though the 2 wheels with spigot rings weren't anywhere near to going on the hub so the rings got knocked out and on they went! Odd that they were on them in the first place as they arent needed on the wheel to close any gap around the hub. They fit tight.

It rained after wheel 1 went on so got I wet but did so with a semi smile! And then the light faded!! lol

Happy days. Ill post pics up to show what the crap was all about (probably nowt special to most but im stoked with it !) once shes washed! Clean weels & filthy car + dark - poo pics!!

Thanks for all the input guys, espec. you Lee, Cheers bud! You have been most helpful and supportive!
