Hi all,

If any of you have been following my camshaft/timing issue thread, you'll know I had also got a knocking noise which apparently turned out to be a loose hub nut (the big ass nut holding the hub on as far as I'm aware). Anyway, this was tightened up and all ok....

However, last night the noise came back again (very faint), I could just here it. Text my mate and he said keep an eye on it, and I may need a new hub. Does this sound right? Where can I get one? And does it have to be a Cupra hub or any Mk3 Ibiza?

Also, the noise came back this morning around 70mph... Could just about feel it. Stopped at the end of the road, went again and it seemed to go.... So maybe the issue is fixed???

But I'm still looking at possibly a replacement hub to be better safe than sorry.

So, how much would I be looking at? Assume breakers yard is best bet? And does it have to be a Cupra one?

TIA

Mat

dunno.... tight as fook this morning.....

felt fine, and sounded fine.... then for about 5 minutes, i could hear the noise, then it went (maybe I ran over something)

One think I have notice, is that at slow speeds I can hear like a creaking noise???

****ing hate cars!!!!!1

think with the hub you'll need a cupra one, as the others are different due to brakes, i believe, as i havent changed one before

Do u mean the wheel bearing? the hub press's into the bearing and the bearing press's into the hub carrier? or is the drive shaft bolt coming loose in the hub?

I would have thought the bearing has taken a hammering if the nut came loose as that holds it all together.

dude that sounds like the wheel bearing on its way to me jack it up take the wheel off and check the hub nut is tight then see if there is any play or movment if there is then you know its the wheel bearing ( if you need it popping out let me know i've got a press)

wheel hub felt tight as fook other day

maybe it is a bearing... how much do they tend to cost?

right, i'll try new bearings first..,.,

been offered a hub from Alex, but it needs bearings anyway, so if it is the hub, it's not like I've wasted money on bearings

Does the wheel feel loose? If the hub nut had come loose then i would go for the wheel bearing.

wheel felt solid other day.... then took to garage monday, and heard the squeek monday night

squeek has kinda gone, but can feel a vibration at 65/70mph+, nut is tight as owt
