when i accelerate

hey, i no many poeple have posted similar threads but im getting this very annoying noise when i accelerate. i want it sorted out but i dont have an idea where to start. dont really want to take it to a seat dealer or anything like that as they will fiddle with everything else except the problem. so anyone no what it is or could be. lets ave it!!

well it only happens when i accelerate ive maybe got just under an inch of play until the noise starts but its not a noise that pops up its a gradual one but gets louder after abouth the inch. it doesnt do it when the car is at a stand still so i cant pop the bonet to have a look. it sounds like its coming from just behind the steering wheel. cant really describe the noise really. it might sound like you know when your using the hoover (if you ever do) an u get a bit of card or a wrapper stuck in the top part that noise it could be. so do you reckon you might no from what ive just said.

I'm guessing its like a metallic rattle noise both my Cordoba and my mates Ibiza do it but its not the heat shields under the car already tried that.

no its not that ive tightened that up. its not a rattle noise. its more like sucking or blowing air through a tight gap

Check your exhaust manifold.

They are prone for cracking. mine split almost in half! just an idea, you would here when reving though . . . even at standstill

sucking or blowing air, some people pay a lot of money for those noises! - why not wedge the throttle body open from the engine bay and follow your ears...

ha ha yeh i no trust me tho it dont improve the performance, i just want it quiet so i can sneak around at break neck speeds
