that was mine when it was removed by awesome,it was intact, but was all to easily pulled apart, and you can see the rusty shaft on it.
brass one is from an AUDI TT iirc(says so on my awesome receipt anyhoo)

Wow looks similar to how mine did!!!
i trust you have a metal one now!!!
pump.jpg

my broken bits were found in the bucket under the car after the system was drained......
was very rattly before we took it out..........wonder why!!

mine went last week, vagtech had 20 on a shelf from last month alone, msot broke like the above, mine stripped its cogs, hence why it drove at low speeds fine, as soon as you give it some pasty, the cogs sklipped and the pump didnt circluate.

Ill get a photo of the shelf at the weekend so you can see the different ways they go!

Metal one now

My pump was replaced under warranty a few months ago, before I bought the car.
Will this definitly be the brass impeller version? Is there any way I can tell? For example an id number on the pump body?

Chances are it will not be the brass version, because that is an after market part for Seat. They will have replaced it with an 'updated part number', i.e. a plastic one that is only slightly different.

Where is the water pump?

Is it a do it yourself 5 minute job or do you need garage access?

Not sure exactly where it is but on the Leons it gets its drive from the cambelt so deffo not a 5 min job to replace, that's why people get it replaced with the cambelt because the belt has to be taken off to change the pump.

It's a 4hr job for a decent mechanic, plus cambelt needs to come off (may as well be replaced plus tensioner etc) your looking at £250 ish incl parts + VAT.

Some peope have got it done cheaper than you'd expect at their dealers circa £200

4hrs what too long? Not enough time?

I think ruud is referring to cambelt change aswell as at 60000mile service

The cambelt needs to come off to get the water pump out which is why people have the cambelt done at the same time as the water pump.
