Ok, so tonight, I filled up the Cupra with Diesel, got it all over my hands, done the rear quarter and dropped the fuel pump....

...All because I was trying to stop the damn fuel cap spinning round on its cord and wiping diesel all over! Of course, I failed.

So, when you fill up, what do you do with the fuel cap? My MINI had a slow in the flap for it, no such luck with the Leon :(

On mine the cap is shaped to sit on top of the filler flap.

That doesn't stop it whizzing round though.

i have learnt to rest cap on top fuel pipe whilst fuel is pumping into tank.
when finished i take cap off wiyh left hand and remove fuel nozzel with right hand.

Yeah, it's a pretty lame design really - my previous cars have all had filler cap 'holsters' on the inside of the flap.

My lanyard's snapped on the Toledo anyway, so I might take the cap around a scrapyard and see if I can find a clip that fits.

I popped my lanyard off, so I can just remove the fuel cap completely. I just hold it in my hand while filling up.

I cut the tether thing off our lasses fuel cap.

I stand it on a paper towel on the pump.

I would never rest it on top of the flap, petrol fumes, drips near paint...nooooo!!!

i hang mine over the back of the flap, totally out of the way.

And yes, its does stink if you get it on your hands, but i work in a chemical plant, so my hands are like boot leather anyway
