Where does the gearbox live?

Hi all, i haven't got a clue when it comes to anything under the bonnet,

Could someone tell me where the gearbox lives? Possibly with a pic.

It's the big aluminium casing bolted to the right side of the engine (as you look at it from the front)

No offence but if you really need to ask where the gear box acctually lives then might be a good idea to just leave the bonnet closed and let someone else go near it......

looking down on it all u can really see is the shifter...it moves when u move the gear stick

None taken! Yeah i'm no mechanic, but i just wanted to check something obvious. We all gotta start somewhere!

I think it would have helped if most schools taught basic mechanics instead of home economics like mine, who in there right mind would voluntarily choose to cook grrrr

It's that stick you use to change gears. Sit in the car and on your left hand side is your gearbox

I think you'll find thats the gearstick, not the gearbox!
