Where the hell is the boot light switch?

I'm trying to get the boot light working in my '97 SX coupe, but I can't find the switch which operates it. I've traced the wires from the light off into a loom towards the front of the car, but there must be something around the boot which switches the light on and off, unless it's bloody psychic.

Anyone have any ideas? There might be a tilt switch or something inside the boot, but I can't find that either.

There's nothing obvious around the catch - just the bit the lock grabs on to. I wonder if there's a switch actually inside the locking mechanism itself? I'll pop out and have a look.

I can't see anything, but there could be a switch inside the lock, so the light goes out once the lock shuts. I'll take it off tonight and have a look.

If you guys don't know of anything obvious, then it's time to start looking for the not-so-obvious!

I miss my boot light that i had in my cordy.

Yeah, so do I!

Edited to add: Digging around a bit, it looks as if it's inside the catch, as you say. I'll open it up tonight and take a look. Thanks for your help.

Found it. There is a switch in the boot lock which is activated when the boot closes.

The problem with the light not working is that the wiring loom that runs up into the left-hand side of the boot has a cracked cover - it's not flexible enough - and the boot light switch wire has broken. Trouble is, a couple of other wires are cracked and exposed too, so it looks as it I'm going to have to rewire that whole loom, from behind the lights up into the boot lid, before I lose the fog light and number plate light. I've already had the fog stop working intermittently.

Better get some swear words lined up ready...
