Which clutch and flywheel??

Hi all,

After just purchasing my LCR and taking it a decent drive to see what it can do, I have discovered that the clutch is slipping in 5th and 6th if you plant your foot.

So what I would like to know is which clutch is recommended and whether or not to change from dual mass to single mass flywheel?

My idea would be to hopefully just replace the actual clutch with a slightly uprated one, I have read on here that Sachs is a good upgrade?!

Is there anything else worth changing at the same time?

Cheers
David

My clutch is also on its way out and I'm looking at new ones. What torque rating is the quattro clutch rated to?

Paul, did you use the OEM flywheel with the quattro clutch? Does it feel any different?

about to do mine, im just going to use standard replacements for both clutch and flywheel. after reading on here heard horrible things about changing from dmf to solid flywheel. vibrations, noise etc etc.

yes i am going standard. i spoke to me local tps and the flywheel alone is £500! Did a bit of research and fould that the standard clutch and flywheel is made by luk. a luk dmf from gsf is £200 and a luk clutch is £100. they tell me these are exactly the same as standard but in a different box so thats good enough for me.

im as sure as i can be mate, im really picky about what i fit to my car and i believe genuine it the only way. genuine at a fraction of the cost sounds good to me. i work in a peugeot dealer so just rang my local gsf so i dont have a link. if you search gsf on google it will take you to there main web page.

Normally I would just go the OEM route but I want to run a bit more power through mine and dont want to have the clutch changed again to achieve this.

I have also read about the noises etc and a bit worried but I dont think it does any damage, or does it?!

Still not sure what to do, I got quoted £740 +VAT for the sachs and single mass flywheel but to be honest £300 for the OEM kit sounds alot better to me!

Does anyone konw hwat sort of power you can put through the OEM clutch?

I am looking for around the 280 for mine.

Sorry for all the questions but want to make the right choice!

Cheers

hello mate

i persume you have a LCR

i phoned GSF this morning,

these are the two part numbers for an OEM clutch kit and Dual mass flywheel (LUX)

Clutch kit = 189VG087 - £111
DMF = 022VG021 - £239

according to the guy on the phone, these are the exact same OEM parts....

see if ur local GSF has them in stock.....

cool cool

let me know what kind prices you are getting :)

ive just come back from GSF and purchased the parts.

booked into my local VAG specialists for monday - labour = £450 (total about £900)
cant complain - seat were saying £1500 for everything...******s.

I too was gonna go for upgraded parts, but to be honest after spending so much on a standard clutch, im just going to watch how i apply the power in future

no more FOOT DOWN on 2000 revs.....
things need to change, quickly otherwise i can see other things just failing on me.

standard clutch can hold 300lb of torque.

but it all depends on how harsh you are on your clutch.

I have booked the car into Bedrock next Tuesday to get the work done, its around £800 including labour.

Seems reasonable enough to me considering the price of the parts!

I dont think I will be going over the 300lb torque so the standard one will last if I treat it well, unlike the last owners clearly!
