Supposedly BAM has more stregthening webbing and bigger water passages in the block.
Hopefully be able to actually confirm if true or not soon myself
Older models(certain codes) had largeport heads which obviously better if building a strong base for BT.
Most parts are interchangeable so you can pick bits from here and there.
I soon will be running a BAM block, TSI crank and AEB head

Reason I ask this , its just weird that mates mk4 golf agu (largeport) runs gt2871r with 358bhp and 330 ft/lbs without any issues , and there is a few bam engine lcr s running alot less that snap rods

it all depends on how the torque is delivered. i have seen golf mk4 AGU with gt3071r turbo on "low" boost with no internal engine mod, and i think it was close to 350bhp as well.

i just been checking this out http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34368
and in my never ending quest to find out more about 1.8t engines , want to no which is the strongest built 1.8t engine ? and interms of crank forge or cast is forged crank that much stronger than cast crank? and i've notice that vvt engine seem smoother to drive than non vvt engines why is that ?

Don't know which is strongest built, but strongest 1.8T in terms of horsepower was BFV in the Audi TT Quattro Sport. - 240HP. But I'm pretty sure it was just a remapped BAM.

That's bcs a BAM with a red hot screaming k04 will boil the oil where a large turbo run cooler and still move more air.

any more info on this? will the block and head of a agu fit fine in a 2002 Leon as the throttle body is elec on 2002 and cable on 2000
