well the ecu is protected so he said he needs to take it out and open it up and solder something, he also said he needs to take it a drive and log it then change it then log it then change it etc

No soldering should be needed, it's out taken so they can flash it in boot mode (mine was done like this). I'd be a bit worried if he was opening it up to map it

Also make sure he has the right size security bolts to replace it, don't want the dealer seeing that it has been removed ;)

+1. NO soldering required. id be running like the wind away from him if he's plannng on soldering.

hat proof have you read of this guy or his partner in belgium who he buys his maps from, that theyhave indeed mapped the cupra?

Also if its coming from Belgium, do you really think its custom?

me personally i will only go with guys who i have read LOTS of positive experiences from and or tried the map in another car, or seen the results. Its a leap of faith to go to what is basically an unknown quantity in the VAG scene.

Im inclined to stick to VAG specialists. So REVO, APR, GIAC, Jabbasport, AMD, Shark Performance, P-Torque etc. With these you only have to type their names in the search bars of Briskoda, SCN or the GTI foruyms to get pages and pages of peoples experiences, largely positive for all.

I tried this Eco-tune and got nothing.

That said, each to their own, and budget has a lot of bearing on who we choose.

It is rather good, suspension next or the body kit, probably the coilies next though its a wee bit crashy at times and that also means 25mm lower if it all works out.

I think I may take your advice and find someone else, yous know plenty more about vag than me thanks a lot it is much appreciated

I ahve to agree with mork also, people poking about opening things and then getting the soldering iron out is all a bit Heath Robinson (bodge) Its best to use the proven companies who probably know more than the manufacturer on how to squeeze out more from the car.

I had a Shark Performance Map on my Leon, really great people to deal with and the work they do is great, i dont have much to compare it too but i was very happy with the result! That said i cant see any mention of an Mk5 Ibiza on their site so they may not do it as yet!

I was just on the verge of losing the plot about 20 minutes ago had a call from amd asking if I have xenons which I do and the exhaust doesn't fit cars with xenons milltek are working on it check out the milltek cupra Bocanegra development thread I'm still going in on Wednesday just telling them to unbolt the sensor and I will go and get it changed when the new revised bit is out hopefully won't be too long i will just have to put up with a warning light on the dash but I was not postponing all the work being done

I am broken about this too. I have already booked a hotel in Manchester for when I had to get this work done!!! No what???!!!!

I actually feel sorry for you guys!!! Milltek should of checked this before releasing the system.

I assume this problem only exists for the full TBE system? the cat-back one should be fine for people with xenons?

Just got off the phone with Ravey_Cupra and they are already sorting it and I shouldn't have any issues by the time I have my work done. PHEW!!!!!! yeah cat back wont be an issue as it is with the xenons that has the auto leveller which lies in the middle of something and is in the way but they will sort it and lucky for all the VRS and GTI guys with xenons they wont have any issues either now once this is resolved.

Milltek should have thought about it I agree but I suppose its quite an easy little thing to forget I suppose but they should have a donor car end of/beginning of next week and they said to me they will need the car for a couple of days I think they will have the revised system out by the time your is going in Jason if not just get the to unbolt it and get it sorted at a later date?

Im going with shark performance as well. He has the monopoly on briskoda for VAG remapping. Huge customer base, and having had both bluefin and shark on my octavia both at every stage of tune, i can honestly say the shark ran rings around the bluefin and matched REVO figures and car son rolling road days

I should have it done very soon, so will let you all know

I have just emailed him regarding my Boca, see what he says. I still have the STS device so hopefully it won't be too much to get it sorted.

not sure if the STS is compatible with the new encryptions, so You could try, but you might have to go to him.
