Why are there new 290 Cupra's when the 300 came out a while ago?

I'm sure it's obvious to everyone but I'm new to the Cupra and after having a quick nosey around the site I can't really see the answer as to why SEAT is still advertising the 290 hatchback but 300 ST. I thought it was at least 6 months or so ago when the 300 was launched and assumed it would be across the 3/5 door and ST. I've also noticed EZ in the titles too??

Basically my 2 year lease on an Audi S5 is finishing in March and looking at options. We (my wife and I) also have a M135i not on lease so thinking of reducing our outgoings by selling that and getting two OK cars for the price of the BMW and not do another lease or get a much cheaper runaround and lease something something else but cheaper than the S5 but still fun. Which brings me to looking at the Cupra's which have usually been good value lease wise but the 290/300 is confusing me.

Also whilst browsing around found that there's a Cupra Ateca due out now which is an interesting proposition but can't see any leasing info on it yet.

In summary:

Ordering for MY18 CUPRA (all variants) closed in Spring 2018, then everything went through re-testing under WLTP...

Ordering for MY19 CUPRA 5dr opened on 10th October
Ordering for MY19 CUPRA ST opened on 23rd October

Current Leon is now on run-out pending the new model next year, so the range now only consists of 2.0 TSI 290 DSG-auto 5dr and 2.0 TSI 300 DSG-auto 4Drive ST in both CUPRA and CUPRA Lux trim levels.

There are already so many different threads discussing this is nauseating detail...

Guess it's easier to get someone else to search for you though, right?

Sorry if my question is obvious to you but after 20 pages of searching the MK3 Leon thread I couldn't find anything that indicated in the title to me what I was trying to find out so I didn't really think my question would annoy anyone, but I apologise if it did.

no my error on the page link, VW Got caught short being ready for WLTP (My Opinion) and so the old 300 engine had to be downgraded to 290 except on the ST because that passed WLTP. If you have time read through the thread you will also see that the interior trim / exterior markings are also all changing (and getting people very upset.

As Scrogg point out SEAT have limited the range now (to make it easier to pass WLTP and because the MK3 is at end of life). The same is also true for the Golf and I suspect the Audi's as well.

If you want a 300 3 or 5 door then its second hand - and just to add to that 3 doors are being removed as well.

Thank you for explaining it. I was thinking that the 290's were the older model in terms of spec etc. So they come with the vitual cockpit etc the same as the 300 ST, just slightly less power because as you said the WLTP and some interior trim changes?

Can I ask what EZ means exactly? I did google this earlier and the best explanation was that if it's got EZ in the title it means that you cannot add any optional extras to the car.

Not my area, but my understanding under WLTP You have to test every configuration of every car. Thus manufacturers have now changed it so you cant just add stuff on (guessing you do that in the after market) like you used to. You get a number of configurations
CUPRA and CUPRA Lux trim levels and thats it. This is all to speed up the WLTP Processing as the VAG group have a lot of cars that have to be tested before they can deliver them (which is now starting to happen).
