Hi @BillyCool
How did you get on with your DPF?
Did you get a new one fitted? Has it cured your frequent regens?
Did you also get a new EGR? What was the old one like?
Hiya,

Looooong story short.

Original VAG DPF (£3500+VAT) still on back order and due mid-June - maybe, possibly. Massive backlog in Europe apparently.

Sacked that off and the garage managed to find me a low mileage DPF off a CUPA car that they were confident could be bench cleaned. Got that done and fitted and all seems well. Car runs better as suspect it's not been restricted by blocked DPF. I've not checked the regen frequency but pretty sure it's back up to 180 miles or more (kind of where it was in the good old days).

Also had new EGR cooler and valve fitted. I had a brief look at the old one (I need to go and pick it up before they bin it) but the EGR valve didn't look too bad. I'll try to pick it up and take some snaps.

Ultimately, it cost me less money and the car seems to be running well. I did a 320 mile round trip to Wales at the weekend and fuel economy was much better. Car computer said 49 mpg each way compared to more recent long term figures of 35-40 mpg.

I'm pretty sure that the blocked DPF was causing some back pressure as well.

Next step is injectors but the garage said chuck some Redex through and see if the cleaner DPF makes the situation any better. I still get injector deviation but it doesn't seem so bad. Time will tell.

Overall I'm happy. "Only" spent £2500 compared to a possible £8k and so far it's running okay. I'll decide on the injectors in a month or so.

Thanks for the updated.
Would be great to know your idle DPF pressure?

FYI This is my (hot) injector idle deviation settles to around +-0.5

Your injectors look better behaved than mine.

DPF idle pressure so far is between 9-11 hPa. Seems about right to me. Under load it's 80-100 hPa. Both figures are much better than it used to be. Shows the DPF is breathing better than it did. Not expecting brand new DPF performance but it seems to be so much improved.

Can you check this with OBDII? My wife's car has only done about 70k but it's been doing short trips a lot of its life. Recently I noticed it struggling to complete a regen. Wondering if i can check the DPF health myself.

If you get the VAG DPF app it will work with any OBD dongle. I have a Carista one.

You can then view all of the relevant data and get an idea of DPF condition.
