Hiya,Hi @BillyCool
How did you get on with your DPF?
Did you get a new one fitted? Has it cured your frequent regens?
Did you also get a new EGR? What was the old one like?
Looooong story short.
Original VAG DPF (£3500+VAT) still on back order and due mid-June - maybe, possibly. Massive backlog in Europe apparently.
Sacked that off and the garage managed to find me a low mileage DPF off a CUPA car that they were confident could be bench cleaned. Got that done and fitted and all seems well. Car runs better as suspect it's not been restricted by blocked DPF. I've not checked the regen frequency but pretty sure it's back up to 180 miles or more (kind of where it was in the good old days).
Also had new EGR cooler and valve fitted. I had a brief look at the old one (I need to go and pick it up before they bin it) but the EGR valve didn't look too bad. I'll try to pick it up and take some snaps.
Ultimately, it cost me less money and the car seems to be running well. I did a 320 mile round trip to Wales at the weekend and fuel economy was much better. Car computer said 49 mpg each way compared to more recent long term figures of 35-40 mpg.
I'm pretty sure that the blocked DPF was causing some back pressure as well.
Next step is injectors but the garage said chuck some Redex through and see if the cleaner DPF makes the situation any better. I still get injector deviation but it doesn't seem so bad. Time will tell.
Overall I'm happy. "Only" spent £2500 compared to a possible £8k and so far it's running okay. I'll decide on the injectors in a month or so.
