Because its just what been tryed in the past and worked. Theres no saying an intercooler of another car wont fit, but you know that one will.

I was thinking about using a mercedes sprinter intercooler like a lot of the mk3 i.8t golfs use. But will it fit? its a big un!

why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near?

no, does the same or better job as the forge FMIC but less cost.

but more "hands on fitting"

because you dont care about appearences and prefer to take the word of another :)

if your not bothered what it looks like and trust it'll do the job! then fit a renault part to your german piece of machinary!

ah, ok so there is no particular reason. just wondering if there was a specific reason, guna go down the scrappy this weekend and see what they have kicking about.

Was guna try one off a PD150 passat, but the intercooler was bigger than my car, same for the T5 vans, spose i could strap it to the roof?

it does matter what i put on it, but when the car says "built in Spain" (i know they are german) im thinking a french part might actually help!!

The PD150 one looks to be all part of the radiator/aircon assembley - it may not be so easy to remove from the car (in a useable state)

That could be an problem, yeah, will have a look see whata about and go from there. Im not to keen on cutting my car up to fit an intercooler so might see what else is around. Im guessing its capacity that matters, so a similar capacity to the forge one on another car thats a different shape, or will flow rate com into it aswell? or am i just being a bit sad and extreme?

Tripod hey, you must be popular.

its not just core size that matters unfortunatly, its how its setup, end tanks, pipework etc .. more factors than you think

from what i have heard the only "custom" self built one that works is this one

Take my advice, do a searchy, make your own mind up lol

So many different opinions... lol

I've got one on mine and works fine, doesn't mean it will work on yours, and doesn't mean other FMIC's are crap, just what I did to my car, it works & IMO it looks great!

they do look great and loads of people have done it, its proven so it cant be all bad. Im sure there is a science behind it with core capacity and flow rates and im into all that stuff as im mechanicaly minded, would be a good read probally.

So ita a laguna one then!

Any particular one, old shape, new shape, 1.9, 2.0, 2.2 engines? petrol or thats nasty oil burning clanky smokey tractor juice?

nope infact...finally someone with half a brain...why the laguna intercooler and not from a 406hdi....cos one day someone said..."im gonna fit a laguna intercooler..." and it 'worked' so its become popular...but nowhere along the line was there any science at all behind it. it was more "well it didnt reduce the power so it must be good"

which is good enough for some people...not me ;)
