Some laguna conversions do look like a bodge job. But i think that they can be made to look good if you take a bit of care fitting it and as everybody that has tried it knows they work well.
The reason i went the laguna route was simply the cost of it £130 for the laguna fmic and £700 for the forge fmic.
Both work well and anybody wanting a fmic can read the info on both sides and make there mind up to which one they want to go for
