why might this happen?

glad to see m0rks back to his old ways after a brief visit to deutschland

iv had a couple lights flash when braking very heavily in the past, scanned and no new faults would be stored, put it down to the car sensors just not liking it

yeah its only happened that night, the light came on on 2 runs, never done it before, not done it since, iv not put it down to anything to be honest, my car is running fine, braking fine, and its not faulting, so i think im just going to check out a few things tonight as said above, if all is fine then i will just forget about it doesnt reappear, it was the day after awesome-gti fitted my brakes as well, thinking if it was a faulty/loose abs sensor they would have spotted it?

nope, got all new fluid put in when my brakes was fitted, checked that last night

right, checked my ABS sensor (plug) was fine
checked my brake fluid, all was fine
my mate came back round, plugged in laptop, showed him this thread so he can check what everyone recommended, he said found nothing again ........ ??

this morning on the way to work i went to over take someone (sunday driver) on a dual carridgeway, was doing about 35mph and put my foot down in 3rd, tc light came on when i reached about 3.5k, but as said in other posts, nothing was noticably different, pulled over streight away this time, restarted the car, no light

im not convinced my mate actually does know as much as he says, does anyone know what this might be ?????

got a meet this sunday so hopefully some peeps will have VAGCOM their who know their stuff, i wasnt going to worry about it but as the light came on again this morning, its beginning to bother me now

no one had vagcom at the meet today, the light is coming on quiet frequently now, found that its normally with in 3rd or 4th under low rpm and high boost (under load) but still doesnt affect the way the car drives

havnt got access to vagcom for another 2 weeks, any other things i could check in the meantime?

should i try swapping mafs? any suggestions will be of help

ressurected this thread due to it still happening, only happening in 4th and 5th gear under load, tc light comes on, goes off when car is restarted

not really given people much to go on just by saying it comes on when you floor it in 4th 5th

i havnt got vagcom myself no, my mate has for his golf but dont think he is really as clued up on it as he makes out to be, he plugged it in and found no faults (weird)

i have checked all the vac hoses, plug thing behind the front wheel (think its the abs sensor) that "looks" fine, have checked all piping, checked for leaks both air and water, could it be the maf on its way out?

i went on a RR at trax to see if that would give me any indication, all that left with with was my tc light on, but this time my abs light came on as well????, checked everything again, restarted car, no lights, couldnt see a fault, bloke on RR said my car was running fine, he didnt know why the light came on (but it was a pikey rr on a trailer so not trusting him anyway, + it was dyno lottery)

i know i really do need vagcom, but i havnt got it and cant afford it for a few weeks now as im broke as a joke !

thats all i know, i cant explain it any other way matey

i am getting a bit desperate now coz i hate it so much when i have problems with my car and no idea on where to look, cheers for at least taking interest

and just the tcs light comes on? does it stay on or go off when you slow down or when you turn the engine off?
or is the engine management light coming on too?

the ABS light only came on on the RR, never before or since, no engine management light comes on no, ONLY TC light, and no, its doesnt go off or i cant turn it off until i restart the car ?

yeah the abs comes on cos the front wheels are spinning on the rollers and the back wheels werent...thats nothing

gotta admit it doesnt ring any bells. you might be looking at taking it to a garage...a vag specialist perhaps if you want to avoid a dealer?

id guess a sensor has gone, poss abs

tcs can light when the maf is buggered but not always...wouldnt make much sense it happening in certain gears though? but you would feel performance drop if it was really, not just a light appearing

you cant try the maf disconnected cos the light comes on anyway when you do. but suppose you could to see if the car feels better? but my money wouldnt be on maf mate

i think i will have to have it looked at somewhere, skint at the min tho, only just affording the fuel to put in, the wife robbed my bank with a new kitchen

appreciate you actually taking notice mate, i know the thread has been read alot of times and their arnt many replies

maybe if cupraTgirl started the thread instead i would get somewhere...................


regarding the abs sensor, would i be able so "see" if it was goosed? or not? it seems plugged fine

will try the maf tonight as well, seems to be performing fine tho

lol when any girl posts they get attention...its a fact of life

you probably wont be able to tell if a sensors gone or not just by looking at it, they dont tend to burn out or anything just get confused and stop working correctly. its the values it produces you need to look at to tell, you can log abs sensor in vagcom and compare them against another ibiza, aint got a clue what adequate values are though sorry, am sorta wondering if the abs light would come on though if an abs sensor is coooked inwhich case it might not be related to abs at all

This problem is now fixed

i dont know what my mate was scanning for when he plugged his laptop in
he said it wasnt throwing up faults, I THINK HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN BLIND

craig plugged my car in on sunday, and streight away, MAF needs replacing

replaced MAF and all is now gooooooooooooooood

Failed MAF doesnt always show on VAG COM.

i am and im not pleased with it, i thought the figures were down a bit but all the guys their were drilling into my head that it was coz i literally just changed my maf and it needed time to adjust the paramiters or something, were getting very technical, i must admit, it does feel more lively today

i ran the RR with the below spec,

Fitted :- Jabbasport induction kit with customized 80mm Air intake (where foglight was),
Forge 007p DV,
Miltec Full System with Race Cat, (incl dp)
APR 98RON Stage 2 remap,
Forge TIP,
Insulator Gasket,
A&M FMIC,
N249 Bypass,
silicone hoses,

didnt run nos on the day either

im actually thinking of going back after i get my new clutch, going to run without nos again to see if it was the maf that was holding it back, then i will do a run with nos just to see what its pushing at its max
