As a proud owner of a zenith grey Mk4 Ibiza Cupra Tdi, I am hoping that Seat produce a diesel Cupra in the current Ibiza. My dealer seems to think it wont happen, what do you guys think?

The recent release of a diesel fr has raised the possibility I hope...

well, when i got my MK5 i asked if they are going to do an FR in the diesel he said "definitely not" and i quote because they didnt sell many mk4 diesel fr's (altho i find this hard to belive as i know 3 ppl with them)

so really going by that expect a diesel cupra by end of this year lol

Erm last time i spoke to them, there was no word what so ever about it. The cupra was never as popular as the fr tdi due to the cupra price with the cupra insurance! It sucks because I only traded in my mk5 for a mk4 so i could get more power :p Also when i did that the 1.6 was the quickest mk5 that they did and i wanted a dervvv :) I miss the styling though......

I didnt think you could remap FR's due to the limitations of the gearbox?? I may be wrong i havnt really tooked into it.

I spoke to a VW technician about the new 2.0TDI CR engines recently.. apparently (for VW anyway) they have been told the 140PS CR engines are identical hardware wise to the 170CR, just different maps... So should be no problem remapping.

I know the FR engine is slightly different (143PS) but besides that it should be the same.

I suppose the turbo might be different
You could always swap out the turbo for the 170 version turbo and after remap you would have 200 hp !
That is what I did with my Beetle Tdi (now my wife's car)
