you might just get away with that, its all where the pipe run goes, i had to have one with pipework pointing backwards, although no reason why point downwards wont work so long as they dont protude beneath the car.
why would you want to go though all the hassle of having custom this, fabricated that, bodged this and that though? when you can ring forge and reap the benefits of them doing all the hard work for you?!
ill have a look but i also may have some 2.5'' pipe bends too.
corpa its because the forge one is 600 odd quid mine was made for just over 200 and has full 2.5'' pipe throughout, in some parts on the standard piping it looks to shrink down to under 2 inches.
Any insurance assesor would spot the Intercooler in 2 seconds....so declare the mod's
Second if the assesor is any good he will wonder how the crash bar has been modified, the Forge ones are quite a work of art with a 'slice' taken out the back out the bar and a new back welded in. Having watched these being done in the factory I would say the are as good or better than the OE crash bar. Accidents don't have to be your fault and if you kill somebody you wouldn't want to face prosecution without Insurance....I think if you removed the crash bar entirely the insurers would wash their hands of you and walk away...
Third careful not to buy massive intercoolers that will give pressure loss and make you car ultimately slower......assuming your buying these as a performance mod?
Yeah they are good points and every1 should follow them.
Always insure all mods, better pay more than risk everything.
Presure drop is something that needs to be looked at, I have seen it range on some from 0.5psi to 2psi.
With 0.5psi it may well be balanced out by the cooler temps.
Also on the crash bar front, do Forge sell it as a seperate item or only within the kit? When had my corsa the front and rear crash bars had to be removed (risky I know but I was young etc....) I DO NOT recommend this BTW.
I will look into the crash panel issue before confirming all the FMIC purchase.
