Window switch pin question

Greetings oh wise ones.

Can anybody here advise on the pin configuration for window switches?

Mine is a 2004 1.9 tdi 90hp, only the front two windows are electric so the switch looks like this:

Tons of them on Ebay, but the pin configurations all look different to mine. With the switch on its side (buttons to the right) it looks like this:

000XXX00
00XX00X0

0=no pin X=pin

Many of them look like this:

Which using my amazing system above I would describe as:

00XXXX00
00XXXXX0

My question is....
Will it work?
Or put another way, on my car there is a wire connected to each of the pins on the original switch, so long as there is a pin in the same position on the new switch and a couple of "spare" pins, can I expect it to do the same job?

As ever, any advice or guidance will be gratefully received.

OK, so I've just noticed the pins are numbered, probably a better system than my noughts and crosses game.
So, I have pins in the following positions:
2 5 6
11 12 13

Part number: IJ3959857B

I've found loads with the correct part number, but their photos show different pins.

Hi Major, yeah i'm sure it will work fine. ....If the part number is the same and the only issue is that it has extra pins on the new one, then you should be all good.
I'm sure they make a replacement for the model with rear electric windows, and that probably needs the extra pins. It wouldn't make sense for them to buy/make 2 different types of the same socket, so i expect they've just used the "extra pin" version for your model too.

Thanks for that mty, I had reached the same conclusion.

However, after scouring Ebay, I found a number of second hand ones, but they wanted a load of money for ten to twelve year old used parts, by the time I'd have got them here to Spain it would have been in excess of £50. Then suddenly one of those "see also" links on Ebay proved fruitful and I've ordered one from China which showed the same pin configuration and came in at £10 with free postage.

The annoying thing is that it's only a bit of plastic that's broken on the old one, I've become quite adept at wiggling the floating button to open the window, but I've had to rely on the key in the door method to close it. Of course, it's the driver's side. Extra use? Or sod's law?

Arrived yesterday, free postage takes it's time from China. All fitted and working perfectly.

It even has a sticker with the VW Skoda and Seat logos, naughty.

No more messing about when I go through toll booths and in and out of car parks. Luxury!

Next project, a bonnet wrap to cover up the milky paintwork damaged by the Spanish sun.
