Windscreen smashed + dented bonnet

Got my windscreen smashed and two big footprint dents on my bonnet last night right outside my house. My alarm didn't even go off, and the windscreen was obliterated, wat would set it off if that didn't? Had to pay £70 access for windscreen and havnt thought about bonnet yet. Think this car is cursed mindless idiots walking past did it to mine and a neighbours car. Not happy, and I still have a warning light. The airbag light is now on permanently.

I can't understand why the alarm didn't work?

That sucks, similar thing happened a couple of years back to my mates car when it was parked 4meters away on the otherside of a hedge when we were camping. How the hell we didn't hear it is still a mystery. Hope you manage to get things sorted out. Weird the alarm didn't go off though :S

Yer, right outside our bedroom window. Can't believe we didn't wake up, woke up with a note from the police and our neighbour. Lucky for me the neighbours called the police.

Yer, the cupra comes with alarm as standard

Yer, its definitely going back. Had a few problems now. If I can get a picture of the windscreen and bonnet I will to show you how bad it was too

I dont think the Cupra comes with an alarm standard, only something that you cant start it. But no class 3 or something. (atleast here)
That little blinking light in the door is just a sign that its closed, not the alarm.

Yer, as techie said definitely has an alarm and it was definitely on so should have definitely gone off. I'll check it works physically wen I get home (open door with key but don't put in ignition) and make sure it goes off. Still going to dealer tho

You may find it depends on the type of sensor the alarm uses - some are reactive to sound (smashing glass etc), others to pressure changes (ie the door opening/someone getting in). If you check your manual it might actually say what type it is.

Yer, that's true. Does anyone know wat type it is in the cupra? Still pretty poor to be honest. I live in Horfield, bristol. Never had any problems before

My airbag light came on when I first got it. Took it back to the dealers and they replaced the faulty part. They only needed it for the morning. Not a big fix mate dont worry.

Dont clean the foot prints off the car. The Police can take prints, they may even find finger prints.

Yer, the police have already taken pictures prints etc. I wish I could clean them off, not just muddy prints they must have jumped on the bonnet and have left two big dents.

Good to know about the airing thing, but it was on wen the garage delivered it back. Pretty poor really.

Volumetric alarms are the "Pressure" type which detect movement by changes in the volume of air in the cabin. You'll probably find the alarm never went off because the sensors are pointing into the cabin rather than at the window.

Wow some people are so jelious these days. If you didn't here them smash the windscreen how do you know the alarm didn't go off they don't stay on for very long not too loud from what I've heard either
