Windscreen wiper query

Hi guys.

After giving my new leon TSI SE Dynamic It's first wash, I was surprised when I attemted to pull up the windscreen wipers to clean the windscreen. The wipers can't be lifted at all because the arm catches on the bonnet edge. Am I missing something or Is this normal on modern cars?

In one of the menus (car settings > exterior > wipers) you can put your wipers in a service mode which puts them upright, so you can pull them back without the bonnet obstruction
