Windscreen wipers service mode

Does anyone know how to put the windscreen wipers in service mode so they can be cleaned and replaced without scraping the bonnet?

From the manual:
Service position (for changing wiper blades)
● Ensure that the wiper blades are not frozen.
● Turn the ignition on and off and then (with-
in approximately 9 seconds) push the wind-
screen wiper lever down (short wipe). The
windscreen wipers will move to the service
position
