I've had my Reference Sport for over 10 weeks now and noticed just last week that the nearside mirror moves when adjusting the offside mirror. It doesn't happen the opposite way though.

I'm going to wait until the first service until getting it fixed as it doesn't bother me just now (I rarely adjust the offside mirror unless short-arsed girlfriend gets to drive...which is why it is rarely adjusted ;) )

Anyone else had this problem? Is it a simple fix which I can do myself?

mine does that too, I looked in the owners manual and apparently it's suppose to do that. I don't understand why as I find it annyoing, I couldn't work out how to turn it off. So if you find a way to disable it I'd be happy to know how.

hhhmmmm strange. I can't think of a reason why the nearside mirror should move when adjusting the offside

I didn't bother checking the user manual as I assumed it was a fault.

Can anyone enlighten us to why it's supposed to act in this way?

Its supposed to do that.

If the mirrors are alligned properly when adjusting the right mirror the left will automatically adjust to the correct position based on what the right one does. Its really useful!!

This is for convenience parking.. (aka pain in the arse). Consider reversing into a parking space you adjust one mirror to see the lines and the other is done at the same time. The opposite way doesn't do it otherwise you could never set your mirrors properly. Clever idea on paper.. in reality i would rather there was a separate button to move them to parking position.

OK, it seems a good idea to have this.......if you never need to adjust your drivers mirror for parking as stated by leon1p. It would help me when re-adjusting after short-arsed girlfriend has driven the car - they should both re-align to my setting by only adjusting the drivers mirror.

For those of us (like me) who use the passenger mirror for parking i.e. make sure your shiny new 18" wheels don't scrape against the kerb  , it's ok as the drivers mirror doesn't move when adjusting the passenger side. For people who use the drivers mirror to park, it will be a pain in the backside.

No need to ask the dealers to fix the problem now. I'm glad Iasked or I might have looked verty stupid!

I spoke to my mate last week while in his Cupra R and he tried out his wing mirrors.......with the same result - his N/S mirror moves when adjusting the O/S mirror. He didn't even know about it and he's had the car for 3 years!

As Worzel said previously, it is a feature that does work if you need to change the mirror setting after someone else shorter or taller has moved it to suit themselves.

I seem to think the following:

Set the right hand mirror to where you want it.

Now adjust the left hand mirror to where you want it.

Then in future, only move the right hand mirror - and the left will automatically move to suit, therefore only the need to adjust 1 mirror from now on :)

Wing mirror solved

Hi
Got my new FR last week and had exactly the same problem. Both mirrors adjusted independantly then next day flipped to synchronous mode.

To cure it I went into the options screen on the MFD (multi function display) and after ten mins of hunting found that there is an option to turn this feature off!! Somewhere in the "Comfort" options!
