I think this is a good move, it should hopefully encourage them to drive harder for the wins now, instead of just settling for the points.

Looking forward to this season, I'm hoping it will be pretty open and hopefully we'll see some great racing. :)

so you win the first 9 races then...? have the rest of season off?

Technically yes, but I can't see that happening unless one of the teams is leagues ahead of the others.

But if that appears to be the case they may need to have a rethink, but if one driver wins 9 races he's pretty much on his way to the crown in the points system too, though granted he may not be mathmatically out of danger, but that would depend on his rivals being close in points too.

Massa only got 6 wins last season and was Hamilton's biggest rival. Lewis of course got 5 wins and under this system would of lost the 2008 championship.

stupid idea in my opinion, if you have one driver who is consistently good and finishes all the time compared to someone who has an unreliable but fast car who wins say 5 or 6 races and more than other drivers

bad move from my point of view

it may not be over after 9 races, but it could be over a good few races before the final one.

why would they change this after what happend in Brazil?

Last round, last corner, 1 position made all the difference. It was one of the best endings ever!!!

but we shall see if it works or not.

Generally speaking the person who notches up the most wins goes onto win the title:shrug:

I do think consistancy should be awarded, there have been instances in Nascar and V8 Supercars where the chapion elect has only won 1 or 2 races.

Should make for more interesting finishes to races. As long as they accept that the result is going to be some more aggressive racing moves and we don't just end up with the result of every race being decided later on by the stewards...

Total load of rubbish!!!

If they were concerned that drivers would not chase the win then they should of simply made the gap bigger between 1st and 2nd place. This system is wrong cause it does not reward the clever racer that builds a championship.

Bernie has lost the plot - what a plum in my option!
