according to the guide you used, my cupra R (51 plate) with fsh and 60k on clock is only worth£3,200 which was £80 more than a std cupra with same age and miles.

Tell them to shove their guide up their arse!

I know...the guides for prices are such a load of rubbish these days. Im just glad im not thinking of selling mine at the mo, as there is no way id contimplate selling at these silly prices! Car is worth more than what they are going for at the mo

The guide prices are a bit of a slap in the face but they are nowhere near as bad as what I was offered part-exchange! So in my situation, where I need to get a reasonable amount of money back for the car now, I'm a lot happier to give a private buyer the possibility of a decent bargain, rather than feeling I've been completely bent over by a dealer.
If my situation was different I'd definitely have held out at a much higher asking price and waited for the right buyer to turn up - which would be my advice to anyone who isn't desperate to sell now.
To be fair I'm just glad its only the car I'm selling and not my house, now that really would be a painful experience!
At the end of the day now is a pretty terrible time to be selling anything isn't it.
Thanks again for all the advice and comments.

I paid £2400 for mine in December, and apart from the condition of the paint, I'm chuffed to bits with it. I think it was an absolute bargain, even if i have spent a bloomin fortune on more junk for it! Glad I didn't go for another Golf or A3, it's not so well put together, but it's so much more fun to drive.
