No, it doesn't make difference to VCDS settings unless the map specifically alters that parameter, which at the moment no map does.

The brakes will get used more, so the only thing you will get is more pad wear and even then it will only be if you drive at 10/10ths everywhere to activate the XDS.

As HUrdy has pointed out(and me previously) is that it will just wear the brakes more as they will be used more but only if your driving like your on fire.


Hurdy you should charge us a pound and you would of made up more than any petrol used coming to meet us lol!

I could do it this weekend, in sheff or leeds. In Leeds I usually use the lower showcase cinema car park if there is a little meet of a few cars I doubt plod will mind, when there is 20+ though with revving engines ect they get a bit miffed.

I changed this from the stock 0 setting to 2 and this has made the brake pedal more responsive to smaller inputs. Feels more positive in use, especially under enthusiastic motoring.

I'd be suprised if changing brake assist made any difference in normal driving. Surely brake assist is designed to increase braking to maximum during an emergency stop isn't it?

I'm working this weekend and the following weekend I'm down in Portsmouth for a 30 car dyno day at JKM. I'm available all the following week though as I'm off work for 10 days.

Can do the cornering light activation/ deactivation too.

What VCDS software are you using Hurdy? iv never managed to get mine working.

The feel of the pedal itself doesn't change. It is the amount of pressure needed to give a similar response. The brakes themselves feel more positive and although the maximum pressure will be the same the result is that under fast road/enthusiastic driving/trackwork you don't have to press down as hard and therefore your position in the seat is easier to adjust from brake to accelerator. Subtle, but better.

Obviously changing the braking part will mean you won't need as much force on the pedal but what exactly will the change to the XDS do?

XDS is the electronic differential that VAG have designed to ry and emulate the effect that a mechanical limited slip differential has.

The Fabia is set on setting Zero as standard. Mine is now on Setting Two and WHAT A DIFFERENCE

it doesnt spin it away as quickly. I havent pushed it yet, its to cold for that, but i could feel it tugging the car in to the corner accelerating out of it
