Xenons + btcc kit question

I brought a Leon FR with the BTCC kit on it last year which also came with xenons but I have a question regarding the legality of it. It was brought second hand from a local dealer (they are the only previous owner). The car appears to be a missing a "possible" legal requirement - a headlamp wash kit. Is the cleaner a legal requirement if the lights are from factory? I can find requirements for it if it's an aftermarket conversion but I am having trouble finding anything regarding stock setup. It appears to be prepped for the headlamp washer kit (basing this on the huge water tank - appears to be >4 litres). Anyone able to offer some insight into this?

Might be worth pointing out that the washers are not obvious if you don't know what to look for... they pop out from the bumper when activated but otherwise are hidden - they're the small trapezoid shaped plastic bit under the headlight unit on the bumper.

If your bi-xenons are the proper projection lens type (rather than an aftermarket kit fitted in a reflector-type headlamp) then I'm 99% sure the washers will be there too.

If they're the official bi-xenons, they should have the AFS feature, meaning they'll do a little "self test dance" most times when you first turn them on, before you move off. :)

Just round the corner.
Got the same on mine. Went into SEAT in Leicester, to see if I can have the covers. The chap said that the complete bumper with covers are ordered as one. Mine are the official AFS ones, love the "self test dance"!

Thanks for the replies.

It's a 2010 FR with bi-xenons (fitted from factory according to the seat helpline). I guess they are de-activated at the docks or something then. Just found a thread here by KarenFR (can't link due to min post limit sorry - titled "Winter Kit/Aero Bumper - headlamp washers? ") which seems to suggest its one or the other, but if you do it yourself - possibly both.

WOW I have no idea what any of that meant!!!

blond + girl = I need help!!!

just recently bought a Seat Ibiza 2.0 FR (UPG from my Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4) and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the car.....good or bad....but hopefully all good .....

I was going to get the Chill 11 plate as im in love with all the specs (Bluetooth/cruse control/climate control/Tom Tom doc!!) but it was petrol n thats costin me way to much travelling an hr on the duel carriage way everyday to n from work ....

The FR has it all apart from the tom tom doc and Bluetooth which is what i reali reali want....any ideas on how to get it as the dealer keeps telling me they only come factory fitted n i aint about to pay 17.5k for a brand new one cz i need the car asap ...

HELP !!! thanx guys :)

You may have more luck asking the question in the Ibiza section of the forum?

But I'm pretty sure it's possible to retrofit the OE Bluetooth, but it's a whole lot of work and you will have similar functionality with one of the better aftermarket Bluetooth kits (eg Parrot)... with a lot less effort to install.
Re: the TomTom dock, if you're not keen on using a standard windscreen sucker and/or you need a powered dock, you should see if there's something suitable in the Brodit ProClip range. I use their (passive) iPhone holder mounted on the a-pillar in my Leon and I really like it. They make holders for all sorts of phones and gadgets so I'd be surprised I they don't make a TomTom dock of some sort. :)

You sure the washers haven't frozen up and blown the fuse? Mine did this, this year. The headlamp washer pump pressure pops the washers out of the bumper. No power to the pump and they will not pop out.

It was fuse 36 I think, 20amp.

if you have the washers they will look like this >>>>http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c376/oldboyracer/SEatn.jpg

I think the bodykit is fitted at the dealer and not the factory, this means that they should have drilled the holes for the washers and then fitted the covers from the old bumper.

... unless it's a facelift Leon mk2, where the washer will look like this:

That is worrying, take it back to where you got it from, ask them if they put the kit on, and them ask them why they didnt bother cutting holes for the bloody washer jets!

As said there are no washer holes in that bumper. My guess is that all the kit is in place but the fuse is removed and no holes drilled.

All you probably need is 2 holes, 2 covers sprayed yellow (they probably threw yours away) and a 20amp fuse to make them work.

Lazy feckers  Actually I bet they didn't even remove the fuse, the fuse probably blew because the jets wouldn't pop up through the none existant holes.

Xenons not only need autoleveling, they need washers. In addition, halogen converted lights tend not to spread light properly when hid/xenon converted,

Sorry about the muck i work on construction sites, it kills me every time i go to work.

Anyway, looking at the pic, i have something white and bottle looking like behind my Btcc side grill thingy, do you have one there? if not i dont think all the kit for it is even on yours.

Ta everyone (and thanks for embedding the picture) , have phoned up head office CS and they are apparently on the case as my spec list confirms I have it. As far as I can work out it just appears to be laziness of the aerokit installer whenever that took place. I have also requested repainting for the bodykit as the colour is off to a noticable degree that I'd like it fixed so I guess I will be able to see how good Seat customer service is soon.
