'Y' Reg Ibiza Cupra - Clutch Advice!

Greetings All,

I have acquired myself an Ibiza Cupra, only thing is I can feel the clutch is starting to go.
Having had a Valeo clutch fitted to a car I owned previously, I'm not a big fan.

Is an OEM kit any good, or can anyone recommend what Clutch Kits they've had fitted??
And best prices, and from who they've got them from??

Where did you get these from? Any chance of part numbers or prices?

ive just done this conversion. eurocarparts for vr6 luk clutch kit, vw dealers for g60 flywheel.

oh and you will need the 12 new bolts which are also in the thread

Part # from Euro Car Parts for clutch kit is 641440660
(Look under the VW Golf 1997 VR6)

I too can vouch for this clutch/flywheel.

What benefit did you see from this conversion guys in comparison to OEM?

Might do mine when the time comes around

can take alot more torque over the duel mass set up, my standard clutch started slipping after a while of only having a stage 1 map so had to be done asap. also had the flywheel lightened before fitting.
gotta be looking at £450-500 for all new parts

bad feeling my clutch is starting to fail.....100% going for the vr6 and g60. Not loving the £450 - 500 just for parts though.

that was including fitting, 180 for g60 flywheel, 90 for clutch, bout 20 quid for the bolts an then labour on top. Thats if you by new and not second hand parts

The standard dual-mass is designed to "cushion" to some extent, the G60/VR6 combo feels more direct and quicker to react.
Also lighter - just made it a better car to drive in my opinion.

Has anyone found, know of anywhere better or cheaper?

Anyone done this themselves and have any tips or pointers for doing the work?

i got my luk clutch for £90 over the counter from ecp though it was £118 on the site?
also isnt the flywheel £150 if you part ex your old one back with them? £180 if you dont

Awseome GTi do an ECS Stage1 clutch kit for £330, this includes everything including a lightened flywheel. It's not far off getting everything seperate either.

Worth going in and Haggling with ECP then!

Will have to check with the VW Stealers that the Price is £150 if I'm not P/Xing.

1 more thing, anyone know where I can find the Torque settings for the bolts?
Apart from 'FT' or 'BFT'..?!

Driving my Cupra today, was being very careful not to over-rev or pull away too fast..
But on 2 occassions the Clutch pedal, didn't fully release, and made it nearly impossible to select a gear.

Solved this by hooking my foot under the pedal to lift it up, and it felt fine again.

I'm guessing it's related, but anyone else had the same Issues?!

this happened on mine changed the master and slave cylinders together now perfect.

just want to say i bought a solid flywheel and performance clutch kit from fleebay for £222.22 delivered
came with all the bolts aswell.

it works fine and copes well with 220bhp

cheaper than a vr6 clutch and g60 flywheel thats the only reason why i got it

yep ive bought a stage 4 one fro the vrs 450 nm of tourque (suposedly)

im just hoping it can keep my 230 undercontrol
