I hate to be the bringer of bad news people but all the cleaning and detailing in the world cannot help this problem. As someone said, the paint faded under the laquer due to poor UV resistors in the lacquer itself. I took the extreme measure and went for the respray, pics are in my build up and you can see how rich the colour looks now. Alot of money, but money well spent IMO, the difference between faded and resprayed when parked next to each other is outstanding.
Someone posted they had it done for £800. I went to a local proffesional spray company, and the guy gave me a "ball park figure" of £1800.

Its like anything, you get what you pay for. I;ve had £800 paint jobs, and TBH they look like £800 quid paint jobs.
My car is booked in to get painted at the start of April ( the guy I am using is busy) and for a full panels off, windows out, door shuts etc its costing £2500 ish. But I'm having a couple of bits of custom work, and it should last forever. I'd say £1800 is a pretty decent quote as long as the work is up to scratch
I had mine done for £1200 as me & friends use the chap quite alot. He's a classic car restorer and I think this is the best way to go, they pay much more attention to detail. My car was due to be done within 2wks but it took 3wks, reason being that he thought it didn't look right so was going to do it again

It was a ball park figure, although the bloke who owns the company is a family freind, so (hopefully) he'd do me a good deal.
I suppose if i knew I was going to keep the car for a long time I would do it, but bearing in mind im on high miles, and will probably only have it for another couple of years, it wont really effect the resale value... it just doesnt make sense. Mind you, from a money point of view no form of modding does I suppose...

Classic car restorers usually pay much more attention to detail than your average insurance repairer (not always the case before painters start shouting at me lol)
I've had my Ibiza since it was 3months and 3000miles old. Its now 5years and 130000 miles old so it has stonechips, dings etc and one kinda decent sized dent where someone kicked it/fell on it or whatever.
If I was still doing the mileage, I would be trading it in, but my new job has a company car and I work 2miles from home, so rather than spend out on a new car, I decided to spend a bit of cash on this one with the intention of keeping it for the next 5 years.
For your average person a respray is never going to be the best option. Best just trying to sell it on a dull day
I agree, for some that's the case but the paint on mine the paint started bleaching underneath. When it rained and the sun came out and started evaporating the rain spots, it used to leave lots of little white dots when the rain water has been standing which strangely would return to colour after the body warmed up. The final straw was when the roof started bleaching white, this was with sealants and waxes applied, it was unstoppable and the only cure was a repaint. Sad to say this, but your time will come for this and painting will be your only option. Of course if your car is a daily driver/work car/shopping cart then this might not be viable but for someone like me that uses it as a weekend car with an aim to keep for years, it had to be done, I felt so disheartened when looking at it but now I absolutely love it!
